Job Description

We are seeking a Quality Engineer II for our Huntington, Indiana Plant.

Position Summary

In this position, you will be the face of the facility to the customer. This is a hands‑on position. You will be working with production, quality, and engineering, and are responsible for the quality of your assigned program.

Essential Job Functions
  • Become familiar with customer Specific Quality System Requirements including the customer specific portal.
  • Act as liaison with external parties (customer & supplier) on matters relating to assigned product.
  • Head all APQP efforts, responsible for reviewing and updating as needed.
  • Process flow diagrams.
  • Process control plans.
  • Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis plans.
  • Manufacturing work instructions.
  • Quality Inspection instructions.
  • Internally collected variable and attribute data.
  • BOM accuracy.
  • Responsible for managing customer issues.
  • Internal product sorts / quality alerts.
  • Interim corrective actions.
  • Permanent corrective actions.
  • Answering to the customer on any concerns/issues they have, including written and verbal.
  • Train employees to quality issues as needed.
  • Develop, document, and provide for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, production, and quality through layered process auditing and scrap reduction.
  • Read and Interpret GD & T and applying that knowledge as needed.
  • Perform Process Capabilities using Statistical Techniques as needed.
  • Be familiar with supplier PPAP’s and procedures.
  • Supports IATF16949 and ISO14001 initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
  • Four year degree required and 10-15 years of quality and/or quality engineering experience in the Automotive Industry.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Must possess strong math skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to resolve conflicts and to hand issues involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
