Job summary

Jenoptik in Huntsville, AL, is seeking a QA/QC specialist to perform in-process and final quality checks on manufactured parts, using calipers, micrometers and other inspection tools. You will collect data, support metrology, and collaborate with Engineering and Production to improve processes; participate in audits and CAPA; ensure documentation accuracy.

U.S. Citizenship is required for government contracts.

Qualifications

  • Must have 3–5 years in QA/QC supporting manufacturing and product release.
  • Experience in a quality or engineering role in a manufacturing environment; defense/medical device/optics is a plus.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and use inspection tools.
  • Knowledge of quality core tools and methods (Gage R&R, APQP, etc.).
  • Strong communication and teamwork, able to handle long hours if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the investigation, root cause analysis and implementation of Corrective and Preventive action (CAPA).
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):
  • Perform in-process and/or final quality control checks using measuring, inspection and test equipment.
  • Provide back-up support for Metrology functions.
  • Collect, record and present quality control data in support of production and test functions.
  • Work with Engineering and Production on Process Improvement/Efficiencies
  • Deliver QA data feedback to production and Engineering
  • Support Layered Process Audits within the organization using the PDCA process approach.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • AA/AS degree in a technical field of study, i.e. Engineering, or equivalent relevant work experience; BA/BS degree preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in QA/QC for support of manufacturing and product release activities.
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in a quality or engineering role in a manufacturing environment; medical device/Defense industry experience preferred. Optics, image processing is also a plus.
  • Must be able to understand and use; inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, drop and dial indicators, etc.) to measure physical dimensions from engineering drawings and specification requirements.
  • Possesses knowledge and application of; quality core tools for process controls and improvement projects. This includes hand-on experience with verification and validation methods (i.e. Gage R & R, APQP, etc.)
  • Must be a team player who is willing to work long hours (if needed) and be flexible to support other departments.
  • Keen attention to compliance and details. Able to understand directions and learn quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Interacts well with others throughout the organization.
  • Must possess "soft skills": conflict resolution and negotiation, personal effectiveness, creative problem solving, strategic thinking, team building, and influencing skills.
  • Computer proficiency; including using Microsoft WORD, EXCEL and PowerPoint
  • U.S. Citizenship is required, due to government contract requirements.
