Job summary

Jenoptik, a global photonics leader, seeks a Quality Engineer in Huntsville, AL to ensure product quality across manufacturing and test processes.

You will perform in-process and final QC checks, support metrology, and drive process improvements with Engineering and Production. Candidates should have 3–5 years in QA/QC in manufacturing and strong measurement tools proficiency.

Qualifications

• AA/AS degree in a technical field; BA/BS preferred.
• 3–5 years in QA/QC for manufacturing/support of product release.
• Experience in a quality/engineering role in manufacturing; optics/defense/medical device experience a plus.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and use inspection tools to measure dimensions.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

• Perform in-process and/or final quality control checks using measuring, inspection and test equipment.
• Provide back-up support for Metrology functions.
• Collect, record and present quality control data in support of production and test functions.
• Work with Engineering and Production on Process Improvement/Efficiencies
• Deliver QA data feedback to production and Engineering
• Support Layered Process Audits within the organization using the PDCA process approach.
• Review, update and process documentation to meet company standards and customer requirements.
• Evaluate and approve data or documentation in support of QA/QC/production processes and procedures.
• Assist in the investigation, root cause analysis and implementation of Corrective and Preventive action (CAPA).
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• AA/AS degree in a technical field of study, i.e. Engineering, or equivalent relevant work experience; BA/BS degree preferred.
• 3 - 5 years’ experience in QA/QC for support of manufacturing and product release activities.
• 3 - 5 years’ experience in a quality or engineering role in a manufacturing environment; medical device/Defense industry experience preferred. Optics, image processing is also a plus.
• Must be able to understand and use; inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, drop and dial indicators, etc.) to measure physical dimensions from engineering drawings and specification requirements.
• Possesses knowledge and application of; quality core tools for process controls and improvement projects. This includes hand-on experience with verification and validation methods (i.e. Gage R & R, APQP, etc.)
• Must be a team player who is willing to work long hours (if needed) and be flexible to support other departments.
• Keen attention to compliance and details. Able to understand directions and learn quickly.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Interacts well with others throughout the organization.
• Must possess "soft skills": conflict resolution and negotiation, personal effectiveness, creative problem solving, strategic thinking, team building, and influencing skills.
• Computer proficiency; including using Microsoft WORD, EXCEL and PowerPoint
• U.S.Citizenship is required, due to government contract requirements.
