Job summary

Zing Recruiting, in partnership with a leading Tier 1 automotive supplier in the Birmingham, AL area, is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join their team on a direct-hire basis. The role focuses on quality system development, data analysis, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, extensive QC experience, and familiarity with APQP/PPAP, FMEA, SPC and Control Plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field; preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing quality engineering is required.
• Automotive manufacturing experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of quality systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
• ISO standards, auditing and quality documentation experience preferred.
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and Control Plans preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and quality software systems.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• ASQ certification preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems and procedures.
• Analyze production and quality data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Investigate product defects, non-conformances, and customer complaints.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action activities.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and management teams to improve processes and product quality.
• Conduct internal audits and support external/customer audits.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and quality documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
• Assist with PPAPs, FMEAs, Control Plans, and continuous improvement projects.
• Train production personnel on quality standards and procedures as needed.

Quality Engineer Job Summary

• Pay: $76,000–$80,800+ annually DOE

• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and Control Plans preferred
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality-related software systems
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
• ASQ certification preferred, but not required

Work Environment

• Manufacturing and office environment
• Frequent interaction with production teams and plant operations
• May require standing, walking the production floor, and occasional lifting
