Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker in Allentown, PA seeks a Quality Engineer to join on-site manufacturing operations. You will drive quality improvements, develop control plans, and lead root-cause investigations across supplier and internal processes.

You will engage with cross-functional teams, implement Lean and Six Sigma methods, and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 while delivering data-driven quality enhancements.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering or Statistics preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt and/or CQE equivalent training and certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability functioning as a key member of a cross-functional team in problem-solving and Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Knowledge of gaging and inspection techniques, including GD&T.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving and corrective action processes (8D, CAPA, 5Y, DMAIC).
  • Proficiency in system/process improvement tools (SPC, FMEA, DOE, 8D, TQM - Lean, PPAP, CPK, etc.).
  • Knowledge/Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing methodology, DMAIC; ISO 9001 Audit Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Engage daily with Operations and Engineering personnel to facilitate problem-solving and corrective action.
  • Utilize statistical techniques and preventive action methods to evaluate and control variation affecting quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Responsible for all quality procedures, corrective actions, and supplier quality aspects for new products and supplier approvals.
  • Gather and process quality data; provide monthly reports to drive continuous improvement in Safety, Quality, and Productivity.
  • Facilitate DFMEA & PFMEA processes and create control plans emphasizing embedded process controls.
  • Support NCMR, PPAPs, MSAs and monitor inspection plans for incoming, in-process and finished goods.

The Job:
  • Engage daily with the appropriate Operations and Engineering personnel, helping to facilitate daily problem-solving and effective corrective action
  • Utilize statistical techniques and preventive action methods to evaluate, initiate, identify, and control sources of variation detrimental to quality, cost, and schedule targets, including, but not limited to , quality and cost data analysis, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action investigations, process validations, and supplier quality integration tasks.
  • Responsible for all quality procedures and processes, corrective actions required, and supporting all supplier quality aspects regarding new products and new supplier approvals.
  • Gather and process quality data and provide monthly reports both internally and externally for the company as required, then utilize this data to drive continuous improvement relative to Safety, Quality, and Productivity.
  • Facilitate and provide valuable input to the DFMEA & PFMEA processes, ultimately creating control plans for all manufacturing processes with a strong focus on embedded process controls / error-proofing.
  • Support the Non-Conforming Material Review (NCMR) process as required, ensuring an expedient root cause analysis and disposition process is maintained.
  • Perform and develop PPAPs as required.
  • Responsible for performing or leading measurement systems analysis (MSAs) as required.
  • As required, define, establish, implement, train, and monitor quality plans for incoming inspection, in-process inspections, and finished goods inspections. Includes test equipment, gages, inspection procedures, frequency of inspections, forms, records, boundary samples, masters
  • Assist Engineering in defining and maintaining all specs (Raw and Finished Goods).
  • Responsible for monitoring and developing total supplier quality management system
  • Drive root cause and corrective action on identified issues (customer complaints, supplier quality, manufacturing quality, and management systems).
  • Assist Quality Manager in establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality management system.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen/Lean methods, First Pass Yield, DPMO, Scrap % metrics, Capability (CPK & PPK).
  • Adhere to all ISO requirements, including conducting internal and external audits as required

  • Customer Focus, results-driven with emphasis on keeping customer and business commitments.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Will be working in a manufacturing plant with varying climate.

Able to lift, push and/or pull up to 33lbs individually and up to 66lbs as a team.
