Job summary

Mill Steel Company is seeking a Quality Coordinator to document and communicate material issues, work with customers and suppliers, and drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions. You will support continuous improvement and help maintain high quality standards across the supply chain.

You will manage quality communications, assist in non-conformance resolution, and collaborate with fulfillment and quality teams to ensure uninterrupted customer service at Mill Steel Company in Grand Rapids,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, engineering or related field preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in quality, customer support or related experience.
  • Strong time-management in deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

  • Manage and communicate all quality-related correspondence to the inbox.
  • Provide solutions and disposition for material issues at customers.
  • Identify, document, and report non-conformance issues.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Analyze reporting to identify trends and report to leadership.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through team participation.
  • Assist Quality Manager with training and process flow guidance.
  • Understand ISO 9001 and IATF accreditation requirements.
  • Conduct onsite visits to identify material defects and document findings.
  • Collaborate with fulfillment teams to prevent supply chain disruption.
  • Disposition material on hold and communicate issues with suppliers.
  • Complete root cause analysis training and implement corrective actions with supervision.

As a Quality Coordinator, you are responsible for the documentation and communication of all material related issues. You will work closely with our customers and suppliers resolving any defective material issues or service disruptions. You will focus on process improvements, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and communicative swiftly all correspondence coming to the qualitysupport@millsteel.com inbox
  • Provide solutions and disposition for material related issues at our customers
  • Identify, document, and report non-conformance issues
  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
  • Analyze reporting generated by team members to identify trends and report to leadership
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by participating in team meetings and contributing ideas for process enhancements
  • Assist Quality Manager in providing business system and process flow training
  • Basic understanding of industry standards, ISO 9001, and IATF accreditation
  • Onsite customer visits to identify material defects and compile complete documentation
  • Collaborate with all fulfillment teams to ensure customer supply chains are not disrupted and we maintain a high level of customer service
  • Disposition material on hold and communicate with suppliers of any issues
  • Complete root cause analysis training and be able to complete a corrective action with minimal supervision
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, engineering or other relevant major preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in quality, customer support or related experience
  • Should do well with time management as the job is very deadline oriented
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proactive and eager to learn
  • Commitment to maintaining high quality standards
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel)
Organizational Relationship:

This individual reports to the Quality Manager and works closely with a variety of departments throughout the company.
