Job summary

nVent’s Millington, MD Facility is seeking a Quality Technician to provide QA support and improve product quality. You will inspect, test, and monitor processes, collaborate across departments, and drive containment and non-conformity resolution.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years in manufacturing quality, and proficient measurement tool usage. The role requires manual dexterity, safety awareness, and strong documentation skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical bachelor preferred.
  • 2+ years of quality experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience using measurement tools and inspection techniques preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and fabrication experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints and related documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving, in-process, and final product inspections and testing to verify quality requirements.
  • Utilize measuring tools and inspection equipment to validate dimensional and functional specifications.
  • Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities supporting product and manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor production processes and products to ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Support containment activities and assist in processing non-conforming products through resolution and closure.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and document inspection results.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, Production Planning, and Logistics teams to address quality concerns.
  • Support process audits, calibration activities, safety initiatives, and other duties as assigned.

As a Quality Technician at our Millington, MD Facility , you will provide Quality Assurance support to improve internal and outgoing product quality while helping ensure customer satisfaction. This position supports manufacturing quality initiatives through inspection, testing, process monitoring, and continuous improvement activities.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:
  • Perform receiving, in-process, and final product inspections and testing to verify quality requirements.

YOU HAVE:
  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred.
  • 2+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience using measurement tools and inspection techniques preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and manufacturing or fabrication experience.
  • Experience working with Quality Management Systems (QMS) preferred.
  • Ability to use measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, DFT gauges, and go/no-go gauges.
  • Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, procedures, and complete required documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Basic math and geometry skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to operate hand tools and test equipment
  • Team members must be able to safely perform a range of physical activities, including standing and walking for extended periods, with frequent use of hands for tasks requiring dexterity and grip.
  • Roles may require frequent bending, kneeling, and maintaining balance, with occasional climbing or repositioning to support production needs.
  • This position is classified as medium work, requiring the ability to lift, carry, or move materials up to 50 lbs occasionally, 30 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs consistently.
  • Employees must be able to effectively communicate, hear, and visually assess work to ensure quality, safety, and accuracy in a manufacturing environment.

Pay Transparency

nVent’s pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee’s work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.

Compensation Range:

$17.20 - $31.90 Per Hour

Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
