Overview

Location: Hannibal, MO

Compensation: Pay depending on experience

The prime objective of the Quality Control Person is to provide analytical services to ensure the quality of incoming raw materials, process intermediates and finished products. This position supports a good standing in the community, sustainable operations, and adheres to and upholds all company policies, safety standards and federal / state regulations.

The Quality Control Person reports directly to the Laboratory Supervisor. The Quality Control Person does not have direct reports.

  • Must be able to operate all laboratory equipment including analytical balances, hot plates, sieve shaker, calculators, computers, x-ray spectrometers, compression machine, autoclave, TGA, moisture cabinet, specimen molds, length comparator, setting time apparatus, flow table, air content apparatus, laboratory ball mills, muffle furnaces, drying ovens, fusion equipment, laboratory press, Blaine apparatus, titration equipment, and microscope. All necessary tools and training required to be able to use the equipment will be provided.
  • Specific Accountabilities:
  • Performs all tasks in as safe and professional manner in conformance with company policies and quality standards.
  • Performs all sampling, testing and result verification in strict adherence with ASTM procedures.
  • Maintains analytical data results in an orderly manner including log sheets and log books; enters all results into the laboratory database in a timely manner.
  • Informs supervision and other appropriate personnel immediately when quality issues arise.
  • Perform QC tests on incoming raw materials, in-process materials, final products and fuels as directed by supervision.
  • Obtain samples from plant operations as required or directed by supervision.
  • Provides vacation relief as required.
  • Response to reasonable callouts when needed.
  • Attends and participates in department team meetings and training classes.
  • Trains other employees as directed by supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening which may include a physical, background check, and drug screen.

Qualifications:

  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to demonstrate computer literacy, operate company quality software, and also use Microsoft Excel and similar programs.
  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Able to work overtime, all shifts, holidays and weekends.
  • Proficient in the English language
  • Proficient in Mathematics, Statistics, and the use of control charts
  • Must display good employability skills (attendance, job performance, and attitude. willingness to work, etc.)

The employee will frequently be required to climb stairs, walk on rocky, irregular surfaces that may be muddy and in reduced lighting conditions. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to climb ladders. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
