Job summary

DeSHAZO, with facilities in Bessemer and Alabaster, Alabama, is seeking a Quality Control Technician who will ensure adherence to production practices and quality standards. The role entails testing materials, recording results, and supporting manufacturing quality across locations.

A high school diploma and at least 2 years of experience in industrial manufacturing with metallurgical materials are required. The position involves reading blueprints, using Word/Excel, and following NCR procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working within an Industrial Manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with metallurgical materials is required. (This is not a quality lab position)
  • Visual acuity of 20/30 or better in one eye, natural or corrected
  • Ability to read and understand machining and fabrication blueprints
  • Ability to read and understand job specifications.
  • Desirable experience with Non-Conformance Reports (NCR’s) or applicable knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME B30, AWS, SSPC, NEC)
  • Ability to work systematically and logically.
  • Ability to follow through and complete assignments with minimal supervision
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Good oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Submittal and follow up of Non-Conformance Reports (NCR’s).
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Shift: Days

Pay Range: $18.00 - $22.00/hr (BOE)

The Quality Control Technician will follow through on set processes and ensure adherence to best production practices and product quality standards. This position will be responsible for maintaining quality-assurance processes, testing products, and recording and analyzing results during product development and manufacturing. This position will support both the Bessemer and Alabaster DeSHAZO facilities.

JOB DUTIES:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Tasks associated with this position are performed at multiple locations in non-controlled environments subject to heat, cold, dust, dirt, and loud noise.
  • Hard hat, safety-toe shoes, hearing protection, and eye protection is required.
  • This position requires standing and walking for extended periods of time on concrete floors, climbing, bending, and kneeling, and occasional lifting of heavy objects.
  • Many tasks are repetitive with few breaks.
