Job summary

DeSHAZO, LLC in Alabama is seeking a Quality Control Technician to ensure adherence to production practices and product quality standards. This role supports both the Bessemer and Alabaster facilities and involves testing products and recording results.

You will inspect materials, in-process and finished products, and prepare NCRs; maintain QA documentation. A high school diploma and 2+ years in industrial manufacturing are preferred; metallurgical materials experience is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years experience working within an Industrial Manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with metallurgical materials is required (not a quality lab position).
• Visual acuity 20/30 or better in one eye, natural or corrected.
• Ability to read and understand machining and fabrication blueprints.
• Ability to read and understand job specifications.
• Experience with Non-Conformance Reports (NCR's) preferred.
• Working knowledge of codes and standards (ASME B30, AWS, SSPC, NEC).
• Strong documentation and data-entry skills in quality databases.

Responsibilities

• Approves in-process production by confirming specs; communicates adjustments to production supervisor.
• Approves finished products by confirming specs; conducts tests; returns products for re-work.
• Submittal and follow up of NCRs.
• Documents inspection results by completing reports/logs; inputs data into QA database.
• Updates job knowledge by reading technical publications.
• Performs related duties to support quality and organization mission.

Pay Range: $18.00 - $22.00/hr (BOE)

The Quality Control Technician will follow through on set processes and ensure adherence to best production practices and product quality standards. This position will be responsible for maintaining quality-assurance processes, testing products, and recording and analyzing results during product development and manufacturing. This position will support both the Bessemer and Alabaster DeSHAZO facilities.

JOB DUTIES:

• Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
• Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
• Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
• Submittal and follow up of Non-Conformance Reports (NCR's).
• Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
• Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

• Minimum of 2 years experience working within an Industrial Manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with metallurgical materials is required. (This is not a quality lab position)

• Ability to read and understand machining and fabrication blueprints
• Ability to read and understand job specifications.
• Desired candidate will have experience with Non-Conformance Reports (NCR's) or applicable knowledge.
• Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME B30, AWS, SSPC, NEC)
• Ability to work systematically and logically.
• Ability to follow through and complete assignments with minimal supervision
• Strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Good oral and written communication skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Tasks associated with this position are performed at multiple locations in non-controlled environments subject to heat, cold, dust, dirt, and loud noise.
• Hard hat, safety-toe shoes, hearing protection, and eye protection is required.
• This position requires standing and walking for extended periods of time on concrete floors, climbing, bending, and kneeling, and occasional lifting of heavy objects.
• Many tasks are repetitive with few breaks.
