Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in Quality Control, with 5+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards such as ASME and ISO.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee QC inspection staff during construction of the Nuclear and Conventional Islands.

What is the Opportunity?

Supported by an alliance with Ontario Power Generation, Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract for the Darlington New Nuclear Project. The project involves design validation, procurement, site prep, and construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor.

Reporting to the Power Block Execution Director and Project Quality Manager, the Quality Control Supervisor will oversee all QC inspection staff during the construction phase of the Nuclear and Conventional Islands.

The supervisor will work with various teams to monitor construction systems and ensure safety and quality metrics are met for the DNNP.

What are the Role Requirements?

  • Ensure effective control and execution of Quality Control requirements across the Power Block.
  • Develop and implement project-specific QC procedures supporting civil, mechanical, electrical works, and handover processes.
  • Supervise QC team across NI, CI, and BOP segments.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction on QC planning, inspections, and NCR management.
  • Enhance project quality documentation and promote continuous improvement.
  • Ensure timely inspections aligned with construction schedules.
  • Maintain liaison with Alliance Partners on quality execution.
  • Promote a culture of Delivery Excellence emphasizing nuclear safety and quality.
  • Support internal audits and regulatory oversight activities.
  • Assist construction teams in understanding codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Manage collation, review, and approval of Lifetime Records.
  • Follow Aecon’s Quality Assurance Manuals and other outlined requirements.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • College degree in a related field, with 7+ years' experience, including 5+ years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in nuclear heavy construction or fabrication.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, CSA, ISO, ANSI).
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Understanding of design and construction requirements.
  • Strong coordination, organization, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and project databases.

The following certifications are assets:

  • CWB Weld Inspector – Level II or III
  • CGSB Level 2 – Liquid Penetrant & Magnetic Particle Technician
  • AWS Weld Inspector

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged standing, working at heights, and in awkward locations.
  • Annual eye exams and extensive reading required.
