Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a Quality Control Specialist in Arkansas to ensure products and services meet project specs and QC program standards. You will input and track deficiencies, assist senior technicians, and perform visual inspections to verify compliance with codes and customer requirements.

You will also document QC activity, review construction documents, and manage weld maps, torque maps, and compliance records while driving continuous improvement across fast-paced projects.

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in a related field is required.
  • 2+ years' experience in fabrication shop quality control.
  • Quality Control training is required.
  • OSHA 10 certification is required.
  • 20 hours continuing education required.
  • Knowledge of construction codes for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Knowledge of regulatory agency requirements as they pertain to quality control.
  • Knowledge of nondestructive testing techniques.
  • Ability to read and understand construction docs including contracts and specs.
  • Ability to supervise, communicate, and lead personnel.
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Travel 0–5% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Attend training sessions with QC and project team members.
  • Manage and maintain quality control documentation, inspection results, weld maps, torque maps, and compliance records.
  • Communicate quality issues and concerns to supervisors, foremen, and project managers.
  • Document unresolved project issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with project superintendents, foremen, and project managers to implement quality improvement best practices.
  • Ensure quality control processes and products comply with industry standards, local codes, and customer specifications.

Job description

  • Ability to act as a quality control specialist and keep up with industry changes
  • Proven ability to supervise, communicate, and lead personnel
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside the scope of work when necessary
  • Preferred: 2+ years of hands-on experience in layout, fitting, and welding steel pipe and sheet metal
  • Preferred: Construction claims experience
  • Preferred: Certifications in welding, quality control, or nondestructive testing techniques
  • Preferred: Expert-level knowledge of welding methods, procedures, and quality control
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of all tools and equipment
  • Ability to travel 0–5% of the time
  • Ability to climb stairs
  • Ability to remain stationary, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Ability to adjust and/or move objects up to 20 pounds
