Job summary

Orca Bio in Sacramento, CA is seeking a Night Shift Scientist, Quality Control, to perform routine QC testing of raw materials, intermediates, and final cell therapy products and to document results in compliance with cGMP.

You will operate with cross-functional teams, maintain equipment, prepare SOPs, and contribute to assay transfer and validation, ensuring data integrity and timely testing in a fast-paced biopharma environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (biology, biochemistry, immunology, etc.) required.
• 2-4 years of experience in quality control testing, analytical development, or biologics GMP preferred; associates may be considered.
• Moderate understanding of analytical techniques, lab equipment, and quality control principles.
• Some experience in aseptic technique, flow cytometry, or cell-based assays.
• Experience in QC or GMP within cell therapy or biopharmaceutical manufacturing is preferred.
• Able to meet project/testing timelines.
• Detail-oriented with data integrity and accuracy; able to identify data problems.
• Able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine QC testing on materials, intermediates, and final cell therapy products.
• Perform a broad variety of basic/moderate tests, including flow cytometry.
• Record and document QC testing activities per cGMP and company procedures.
• Prepare/review batch records, SOPs, and other documentation.
• Maintain lab equipment and qualification/maintenance.
• Prepare reagents and manage lab supply inventory.
• Aliquot samples aseptically and participate in assay transfer/validation.
• Identify/resolve technical problems; participate in cross-functional teams.
