Job summary

Orca Bio, a late-stage biotechnology company, is expanding manufacturing on the East Coast to support clinical pipeline and future commercial supply of high-precision cell therapies. The Scientist, Quality Control, will perform routine QC testing, record data, and support SOPs within a cGMP environment.

The role requires a biology/biochemistry background and 2–4 years of QC/GMP experience, with shifts on 2nd or 3rd in New Jersey. Competitive benefits and potential equity are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, or immunology required; Master’s preferred.
• 2–4 years in quality control testing, analytical development, or GMP biologics.
• Adhere to cGMP policies and documentation activities.
• Able to wear appropriate PPE in cleanroom and lab settings.
• Experience with aseptic techniques, flow cytometry, or cell-based assays.
• QC or GMP cell therapy manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to meet project and testing timelines.
• Detail-oriented with data integrity focus and problem solving.
• Strong collaboration across cross-functional teams.
• Able to work independently in a fast-paced regulated environment.
• Effective communication and teamwork.
• Willingness to work outside standard business hours.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine quality control testing on raw materials, intermediates, and final cell therapy products.
• Conduct a broad range of tests including flow cytometry and cell-based assays.
• Record and document testing activities in compliance with cGMP and procedures.
• Assist in preparation and review of batch records and SOPs.
• Maintain lab equipment and perform routine maintenance.
• Prepare reagents and perform aseptic aliquoting as needed.
• Participate in assay transfer and validation efforts.
• Identify and resolve technical issues affecting quality.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, R&D, and QA to ensure product quality.
• Receive training and contribute to process improvements.
