Sample Management Technician

The Sample Management Technician is responsible for ensuring that all samples are entered into the appropriate tracking system—either paper‑based or via the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)—and made available to the lab staff in a timely manner. This includes receipt and entry of samples, notifying relevant parties of receipt, and maintaining the chain of custody.

Responsibilities

• Label samples and prepare them for shipment.
• Transport samples to laboratories or supply chain partners.
• Maintain inventory of samples and discard them as needed.
• Conduct aseptic aliquotation to maintain sample integrity.
• Store all sample types according to proper storage requirements.
• Review and match sample paperwork to physical samples, communicate any discrepancies, and distribute relevant sample information.
• Handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials safely, following OSHA guidelines and company SOPs.
• Perform work in compliance with cGMP, company policies, and client requirements.
• Conduct basic cleaning and maintenance of temperature‑controlled chambers and laboratory equipment.
• Maintain inventory and discard samples per established SOPs.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and 3+ years of related experience, OR Associate Degree and 2+ years of experience, OR Bachelor's Degree.
• Ability to work in a clean room environment.
• Excellent organizational skills, written and verbal communication, and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in GMP and ability to follow instructions and work as a team member.
• Proficiency with office tools including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and other electronic systems.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Assistance in training QC laboratory staff as needed.

Working Conditions

Work in a laboratory environment with chemical reagents and analytical equipment. Personal Protective Equipment must be worn as required. Entry into utility rooms for water sampling, clean room gowning and scrubs. Normal office conditions: computer, phone, files, fax, copier. Minimum travel required: less than 10% domestic. Physical requirements include frequent lifting up to 10 lbs, standing/walking in the lab for extended periods, sitting for extended periods at the computer.
