Job summary

Barnard Construction Company, Inc. seeks an experienced Construction Quality Control Manager to lead quality programs for large civil projects across North America, including dam, utility and infrastructure works.

You will oversee field engineering, testing and commissioning activities and coordinate QC efforts for direct hire staff and subcontractors. A ten-year construction background with CQC leadership, USACE certification and travel willingness is essential.

Qualifications

• Ten years of construction experience; at least 3 years in CQC management on major projects
• Experience on two or more Federal Projects preferred
• Have served as CQC Manager on at least two heavy civil projects with $50M+ value
• Familiarity with USACE 3 Phases of Control System is required
• USACE CQM-C Certification required
• Willing to travel and relocate domestically and internationally
• Familiarity with RCC, Soil Cement, and large dam or water infra construction preferred
• Strong work ethic; able to work independently or as part of a team
• Extensive knowledge of ASTM, ACI, CWI, AASHTO standards and QA testing databases preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and verify QC programs for the Project and oversee QC for direct hire work and subcontractors
• Coordinate QC activities across field engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning
• Maintain client liaison and communication for the Project's quality activities as directed by the Project Manager
• Review, audit and report quality progress and issues to management
• Prepare daily QC logs, QC testing databases and submittals to the Client

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field. Equivalent experience in a construction-related position will also be considered.
• Must be willing to travel and relocate. Project sites are located domestically and internationally, so relocation and/or travel are required.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of construction experience of which at least 3 years must be related CQC management construction projects. · In addition, experience on 2 or more Federal Projects is preferred,
• And served as the Construction Quality Control Manager on at least 2 heavy civil projects with a construction value of $50 million or more.
• Familiarity with USACE 3 Phases of Control System required
• USACE CQM-C Certification required
• Familiarity with Roller Compacted Concrete, Soil Cement, and large dam or other water infrastructure construction strongly preferred
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.

• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• The ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
• Extensive knowledge of ASTM, ACI, CWI, AASHTO standards and quality control testing database(s) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops, maintains, and verifies implementation of the Quality programs for the Project, together with oversight of the implementation of programs/plans for the direct hire work and Sub-Contractor.
• Manages and coordinates Quality activities associated with field engineering, field procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning within the Project scope.
• Maintains client liaison and communication for Project’s quality activities, as directed by the Project Manager.
• Reviews, audits and surveys Quality activities across the Project direct hire execution and Sub-Contractors and advises and reports to management quality problems and progress within the Project.
• Develops, reviews and submits the daily QC logs, Quality Control Testing Database, and all required submittals to the Client.
