Job summary

Richard, an industry-leading general contractor, seeks a Quality Control Manager to lead the project quality control plan and ensure meticulous standards across sites in the Tucson area. You will report to the Project Manager and oversee QC activities five days a week, including surveillance of materials, plans, surveys, and as-built documentation.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in federal contracting, CQCM certification, and strong communication with owners and subcontractors.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in federal general contracting.
  • Experience in healthcare projects.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to home office, Owner, and Subcontractors.
  • Ability to write and comprehend RFIs.
  • Pass a background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the construction sections of the project quality control plan.
  • Direct inspections, testing and documentation.
  • Monitor material, plans, surveys, fabrication, and as-built drawings for compliance.
  • Ensure timely and safe completion of projects per contract and budget.
  • Maintain logs and documentation (RFI, submittals, change orders).

Job Summary

The Quality Control Manager (QCM) is responsible for implementing and maintaining the quality control plan and is responsible for the overall quality control for the project. The QCM will have the critical task of ensuring each construction project meets the meticulous standards of excellence that Richard embodies.

The individual holding this position is required to report to a project site five days a week. It is expected that the individual lives within proximity of the project location or the surrounding areas. Richard offers a housing allowance to cover the cost of living if a candidate must relocate. Our projects typically range from 1 – 3 years in length.

Responsibilities

  • The Quality Control Manager (QCM) is responsible for developing and implementing the construction sections of the project quality control plan (including the three phases of quality control) in compliance with Federal, DoD, and Navy requirements.
  • Responsible for directing and approving the correction of any non-conforming or unsafe construction work performed under the contract.
  • Monitors and approves the quality of materials, plans, surveys, fabrication, as-built drawings, and other construction-related work to ensure compliance with specifications, workmanship standards, and contract requirements.
  • Review project plans for quality requirements.
  • Plan and organize quality processes such as work planning, pre-activity meetings, material management, incident reports and corrective actions.
  • Direct inspections, testing and documentation.
  • Have working knowledge of owner contract, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
  • Maintain relationships with owners, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation throughout the project including change order logs, RFI logs, and submittal logs.
  • Ensure timely and safe completion of projects in accordance with safety goals, while adhering to contract documents and project budgets.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience with a federal general contracting company
  • CQCM certified and has administered the three phases of quality control on multiple projects.
  • A thorough understanding of construction materials, means, methods, and building systems.
  • Experience in federal sector projects.
  • Experience in healthcare projects.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Bluebeam.
  • Ability to write and comprehend RFIs.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to home office, Owner, and Subcontractors.
  • Availability to work on any shift—1st, 2nd, or 3rd—as hospital construction occurs at all hours.
  • Experience in Davis-Bacon Prevailing wage-required projects.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation and a drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
  • Experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • OSHA 30 Certified
  • Experience managing projects $20MM+
