Job summary

Aerotek in Burlingame, CA is hiring a Quality Control Manager for a hands-on role in a GMP food manufacturing facility. You will oversee four QC Technicians, lead quality coverage across shifts, and partner with Production, R&D, and Quality leadership to drive improvements.

You will ensure raw materials, in-process, and finished products meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements, while advancing CAPA, audits, and supplier quality programs. This is an onsite, full-time role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Quality/QA/QC in food manufacturing.
• 3+ years in people leadership in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of SQF, FSSC, FSMA, HACCP, GMPs.
• Experience with CAPA, audits, investigations, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of four Quality Control Technicians across multiple shifts.
• Oversee incoming material inspections, in-process quality checks, finished goods evaluations, and product release activities.
• Manage non-conforming materials, investigations, disposition decisions, CAPA, and quality documentation.
• Conduct routine production floor audits to verify GMPs and food safety standards.
• Support root cause investigations and drive resolution of customer complaints with cross-functional teams.
• Contribute to supplier quality programs through monitoring performance and supplier audits.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve processes.
• Ensure laboratory operations comply with test methods, calibration, and GLP.
• Partner with Operations and R&D on new product launches and validations.
• Maintain and improve quality systems and documentation for regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align quality objectives with production goals and customer expectations.
• Use ERP and quality management tools to track metrics, analyze trends, and report to leadership.

Job Title: Quality Control Manager | Food Manufacturing

Job Description

This hands-on Quality Control Manager role leads the quality control function in a food manufacturing operation. You will oversee a team of four Quality Control Technicians across multiple shifts and ensure that raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products consistently meet quality, food safety, customer, and regulatory requirements. In this position, you collaborate closely with Production, Supply Chain, R&D, and Quality leadership to drive continuous improvement, strengthen food safety programs, and reduce quality-related risks throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of four Quality Control Technicians, ensuring effective quality coverage across all production shifts.
• Oversee incoming material inspections, in-process quality checks, finished goods evaluations, and product release activities to maintain high standards of quality and food safety.
• Manage non-conforming materials, including investigations, disposition decisions, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and all related quality documentation.
• Conduct routine production floor audits to verify compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety standards, and internal procedures.
• Support root cause investigations and drive resolution of customer complaints, working closely with cross-functional teams to prevent recurrence.
• Contribute to supplier quality programs by monitoring performance, supporting supplier audits, and addressing quality issues with external partners.
• Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, improving processes, and enhancing overall product quality and food safety.
• Ensure laboratory operations comply with approved test methods, calibration requirements, preventive maintenance schedules, and Good Laboratory Practices.
• Partner with Operations and R&D on new product launches, process validations, and scale-up activities to ensure quality and food safety requirements are fully met.
• Maintain and improve quality systems and documentation to support regulatory compliance and third-party certification standards.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align quality objectives with production goals and customer expectations.
• Use ERP and quality management systems to track quality metrics, analyze trends, and report on performance to leadership.

Essential Skills

• At least 5 years of experience in Quality, QA, QC, or Food Safety within a food manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience managing quality personnel or teams in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong working knowledge of SQF, FSSC, FSMA, HACCP, GMPs, and food safety systems.
• Demonstrated experience with CAPA, root cause analysis, audits, quality investigations, and regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and quality management systems used in manufacturing environments.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office for data analysis, reporting, and documentation.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
• Proven organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple priorities.
• Effective team leadership capabilities, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.

Work Environment

The role is based in a GMP-compliant food manufacturing facility where adherence to food safety standards and regulatory requirements is a daily priority. You work closely on the production floor and in laboratory areas, overseeing quality checks and audits in a fast-paced environment. Operations run across multiple shifts, and you support coverage for all production lines while maintaining a regular Monday to Friday schedule from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. You use ERP systems, quality management tools, and standard office software to manage data, documentation, and reporting in a structured, unionized setting.

The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $130000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
