SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The QC Lead Inspector is responsible for following the Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures to ensure customer expectations are met. This includes both Quality Control and some Quality Assurance activities in support of all departments for cross-functional success. This position also includes the supervision of the Quality Control Inspectors at the site as per the Organizational Chart.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Follow all company safety and quality requirements.
2. Supervise and provide leadership for the Quality Control (QC) Inspectors.
3. Oversee the day-to-day quality activities in order to maintain and communicate facility and corporate metrics and objectives.
4. Follow all necessary Document System procedures and processes.
5. Complete incoming, in-process, and final inspections.
6. Document and segregate non-conforming material and workmanship.
7. Record Non-Conformances, Corrective Actions, and Preventive Actions into the Quality Database.
8. Apply problem-solving techniques and/or root cause analysis.
9. Review Non-Conformances, Corrective Actions, and Preventive Actions from the Quality Database with Facility Management to identify and implement continuous improvement.
10. Verify Material Test Reports (MTRs) and similar documents for required information upon receipt of materials.
11. Maintain calibration and verification of tools and measuring equipment.
12. Maintain AWS CSI and applicable certification.
13. Ensure Welding Specification Procedures (WPS) are current and in place for projects.
14. Supervise and/or conduct Welder Qualification Test Reports (WQTR) to AWS and/or ASME.
15. Maintain the Welder Continuity Log.
16. Organize and record quality-related training activities.
17. Represent the company, as needed, on field issues requiring investigation and decisions associated with product quality and conformance.
18. Able to work flexible schedules and overtime or weekends when needed.
19. Prompt and dependable attendance.
20. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALITIES

1. Must have general computer experience along with experience using spreadsheet and word processing programs.
2. Welding inspection.
3. Applicable Code knowledge such as: AWS, ASME.
4. Blueprint/drawing reading.
5. Leadership to motivate co-workers to quality workmanship.
6. Strong ability to interact in cross-functional teams.
7. Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions and areas of responsibility.
8. Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

1. 5 years welding experience, or equivalent training in fabrication of steel products.
2. 5 years QC Inspector experience (or equivalent).
3. AWS Certified Weld Inspector.
