A leading company in the oil and gas sector seeks a Quality Control Laboratory Technician to manage sample quality and oversee testing processes. Candidates need a high school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience, and an ability to work in a fast-paced lab environment. The role entails collaborating closely with the Quality Control team to ensure product standards and compliance, offering a full-time position with rotating shifts.
Sterling Specialty Chemicals manufactures chemical additives for use in the extraction, refining, and transportation of petroleum products. The Quality Control Laboratory Technician role is responsible for sample management, quality inspection, and manufacturing support of these chemical additives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate, analyze, perform, and monitor quality control and product assurance
testing to help ensure products meet or exceed quality and reliability standards
• Candidate will also generate certificate of analysis and approve all raw materials
• Input QC data into the plant’s information management system
• Prepare lab reagents/solutions
• Participate in CMP (Competency Management Program)
• Complete special projects, as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
• High School diploma or GED with 3+ years of experience as Quality Control Laboratory
Technician OR Associate degree in Chemistry or equivalent, with 1+ years of experience
as a Quality Control Laboratory Technician
• Must have knowledge of laboratory analytical testing procedures and specific lab
equipment required to perform quality testing
• Must be able to work a 12-hour rotating, four day on four day off schedule
• Ability to stand for a long period of time (12 hours on a busiest day)
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment; candidate will interface with
the Quality Control team and the Manufacturing plant
• Possesses superior communication skills (i.e. verbal, email, phone, plant radio)
• Ability to use Microsoft Office suite of products
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or equivalent STEM major
• Wet chemistry in chemical manufacturing setting
• Instrumentation Experience: Auto Titrators, FTIR, FTNIR, GCMS, UV-Vis, Densitometer,
Viscometer, Particle Size Analyzer, Pour Point Analyzer, Colorimeter, Centrifuge, Flash
Work Schedule:
• Rotating Shifts: Day and Night Shifts
• Willing to work on-call and overtime as needed, including holidays.
