Position Summary

Are you mechanically inclined with a knack for hands-on work? Do you enjoy a flexible schedule and working independently, but also have the support of a team? The Equipment Service Technician is a remote-based, customer-facing employee, primarily working inside hospitals. You will troubleshoot and repair medical equipment used in surgical procedures, as well as provide installation support on complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic units.

Individuals with experience in HVAC repair, mechanics, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, equipment repair, diesel and automotive repair, aviation repair, plumbing, electrical, etc., are often successful.

This is a remote, customer-facing position. To support and service our customers in this territory, candidates must be based out of Texas.

What you'll do as an Equipment Service Technician:

• Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components.
• Manage time effectively by prioritizing customer and business needs, completing PMs, service calls, warranty calls, equipment installations, field upgrade programs, and other duties.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Tech Support, Engineering, Service Contract Management), escalate issues appropriately, and utilize advanced technology platforms to meet compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Provide customers with information, pricing, and repair options. Build relationships with sales to enhance customer experience and identify sales opportunities.
• Support various locations within the assigned territory based on service agreements and customer needs.

Required Experience

• High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of work experience, including 2 years in a mechanical/technical role. Associates degree or related certifications, military experience, or technical training may be considered.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background and physical assessment requirements for vendor credentialing.
• Customer and team engagement experience.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills (MS Windows/email, navigation, mobile apps, data entry into multiple systems).
• Ability to meet flexible schedules, including potential overnights and early/late hours, based on customer and business needs.
