Job summary

Actalent in Fremont, CA is seeking an entry-level Chemist to perform chemical, physical, and instrumental testing on raw materials and finished products in a fully onsite lab. You will use methods like pH, FTIR, SPG, and RI as needed, document results, and ensure data integrity in WinLIMS or similar systems.

The role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of Excel, and ability to work with cross-functional teams in Quality, Production, and R&D.

Job description

Description

Perform chemical, physical, and instrumental testing on raw materials, in-process, finished, and customer product samples, including volumetric and gravimetric analyses, pH measurement, FTIR, SPG, RI, and other instrumental techniques. Conduct functional testing such as IACS and thermal conductivity as needed. Follow written analytical procedures, validate established methods, and troubleshoot testing procedures to ensure product quality. Collect, enter, review, and validate data in WinLIMS or similar data management systems; perform calculations and submit results to QC Supervisor/Manager for approval. Communicate sample status and results effectively to Quality, Production, and R&D teams. Maintain accurate laboratory documentation including SOPs, test methods, protocols, deviations, batch records, and COAs. Handle hazardous materials safely, maintain proper storage and disposal, and follow all site safety and chemical hygiene protocols. Troubleshoot basic process issues and expand appropriately

B.S. Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science or related field One or more of the following: Materials testing background, experience working with metals, QC background, lab experience (academia Basic computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint; ability to log process data Familiarity with statistical analysis software such as Minitab is a plus Ability to work in a team environment, follow instructions, communicate effectively. Hands-on, good time management skills Strong attention to detail; focus on process control, documentation, maintaining quality.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
