Job summary

Vortex Companies, LLC is seeking a Laborer/Operator to support quality control and testing operations. The role focuses on routine testing, inspecting materials and products, and documenting results to meet quality standards.

You will work with Operations, Production, and Engineering to troubleshoot quality issues, maintain testing equipment, and follow safety procedures in a clean lab environment.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required; technical education a plus.
• Experience in quality control, lab testing, manufacturing, or related field preferred.
• Ability to follow written testing procedures and technical instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to document results accurately.
• Comfortable working with numbers and basic math (percentages, fractions, decimals).
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Basic computer skills; MS Office experience a plus.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic testing or equipment issues.
• Valid driver's license required; forklift experience a plus.
• Able to perform physical work including standing, walking, bending, lifting 45+ lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine quality control testing and inspections on materials and finished products.
• Prepare samples and conduct testing according to procedures and standards.
• Accurately document test results and maintain quality records.
• Identify results outside specifications and communicate findings.
• Assist with troubleshooting quality issues and determining causes.
• Inspect, operate, and maintain laboratory and testing equipment.
• Conduct routine equipment checks, calibrations, and maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory and work environment.
• Follow established quality control, safety, and testing procedures.
• Collaborate with Operations, Production, and Engineering on quality initiatives.
• Assist with special testing and continuous improvement projects as needed.
• Support additional QC and laboratory activities based on business needs.
