Job summary

United Felts, A Vortex Company, is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Inspector to support incoming materials, in‑process components, and finished products, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and ISO requirements.

Responsibilities include maintaining traceability and calibration records, performing tests, releasing conforming product, and assisting with non‑conformance investigations and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • GED/HS diploma with 3 months on-the-job training.
  • Ability to work independently when needed.
  • Experience in manufacturing and laboratory environments.
  • Able to stand, walk, and lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Basic math skills and PPE compliance.

  • Other duties as required
  • Provide real-time quality support to manufacturing operations to meet ISO and internal standards.
  • Perform inspections and testing of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products as needed.
  • Identify, communicate, and elevate quality concerns, trends, or risks to Quality Management.

Job description

Inspection and testing of incoming material, product in process, and finished goods and the physical operation of the Quality System.

1. Manufacturing Quality Support & Collaboration
  • Provide real-time quality support to manufacturing operations to ensure products meet internal, customer, regulatory, and ISO requirements.
  • Perform inspections and testing of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products as needed.
  • Identify, communicate, and elevate quality concerns, trends, or risks to Quality Management in a timely and structured manner.
2. Non-Conformance & Continuous Improvement
  • Support investigations of non-conformances, deviations, and customer complaints by reviewing laboratory data and coordinating findings to Lab Lead.
  • Use laboratory data and hands-on testing to validate hypotheses and drive fact-based decision making.
3. Compliance & Documentation
  • Ensure accurate, complete, and timely documentation of laboratory activities, test results, inspections, and quality records.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing laboratory documentation and assisting in responses to audit findings related to the laboratory.
Qualifications
  • GED/High School Diploma. Satisfactorily complete 3 months of on-the-job training.
  • Basic Computer Skills and the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Multitasking is required.
  • Manufacturing and laboratory environment.
  • Standing, walking, and lifting to 35 lbs. for extended periods.
  • Requires a full range of motion including eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Must have basic math skills.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels, temperature fluctuations, and standard factory conditions.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Typical hours are Monday through Friday; however, flexibility is required and may include evenings or weekends based on production and business needs.
