Job summary

3M is seeking a Quality Control Laboratory Technician for the Materials Resource Division (MRD) located in Cordova, IL. This 12-hour shift rotating position will support product quality, product development, process scale-ups, or production processes by learning and performing elementary tests, measurements, and tasks for experimentation and/or production.

The technician will also gain understanding and assist in the development of quality standards and test procedures to inspect materials,

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
• One (1) year of quality control technician experience in a private, public, government or military environment
• Associates/2 year Technical degree from an accredited institution
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a chemical operator, laboratory technician or combination of both
• Understanding of basic concepts of measurement systems, testing, and calibration
• Working knowledge of the basic quality tools (checksheets, process flow diagrams, cause-and-effect, histograms, Pareto charts, scatter diagrams, run charts) and general awareness of a consistent problem solving methodology, such as the "7 Step Problem Solving Method"
• Experience working with diverse team including external partners
• Ability to communicate regularly and effectively on test results and observations
• Detail oriented
• Strong oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Conducting analysis of samples with minimal supervision and report results.
• Supporting QC lab process improvement initiatives.
• Supporting product validations and optimizations.
• Utilizing LIMS and other Computer Systems.
• Documenting all test results.
• Maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Participating in quality improvement programs.
• Maintaining/improving testing cycle times for QC.
• Other duties as assigned.
