Job summary

CWR Contracting, Inc. is seeking a Certified Asphalt Quality Control Lab Technician for its local operations in Florida. The role tests and inspects road construction materials, ensuring asphalt products meet DOT, customer, and project specs.

Responsibilities include data analysis, corrective actions, documentation, and supporting mix design changes. The position requires 3–6 months of related experience, CTQP Plant Level 1 and 2 within 90 days, and a valid Florida driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 3–6 months of asphalt production or QC experience preferred.
• Knowledge of asphalt testing procedures and industry standards.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• CTQP Plant Level 1 and 2 certifications required after 90 days.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and meet MVR requirements.

Responsibilities

• Test and inspect road construction materials, including HMA and GBC.
• Analyze test data and identify corrective actions to prevent non-conforming products.
• Maintain documentation and data control to ensure DOT and customer specifications are met.
• Assist in mix design development and changes in plant production.
• Collect data and prepare reports; follow all safety requirements.

C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc. (CWR) is a growing road construction company. We are seeking to fill a Certified Asphalt Quality Control Lab Technician for our local operations.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Understands test methods and procedures
• Responsible for the testing and inspection of road construction materials, paving techniques, and equipment being used, including but not limited to Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) and Granular Base Course (GBC)
• Analysis of test data
• Corrective action to prevent non-conforming products
• Documentation and data control
• Ensures manufactured asphalt meets DOT, customer, and job specifications
• Assists in mix design development and changes in plant production
• Performs data collection and reporting
• Complies with all safety requirements
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3-6 months of experience in asphalt production or quality control strongly preferred
• Knowledge of industry standards and testing procedures for asphalt products preferred
• Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
• CTQP Plant Level 1 and 2 certifications required after 90 days
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Must be able to work days, nights (including 3rd shift), and weekends as needed
• Able to complete all required paperwork efficiently
• Must be able to meet company MVR requirements and have a valid Florida driver’s license
• Employer conducts drug screening and background check
