Job summary

Helpmates is seeking a Quality Control Inspector in Fountain Valley to ensure high-tech components meet engineering drawings, tolerances, and quality standards. You will perform receiving, in-process, first article, and final inspections and document results.

This role supports a Monday–Friday schedule (8:00 AM–4:30 PM) with ASAP start; requires a HS diploma or technical cert and experience with calipers, micrometers, and GD&T to ensure product quality.

Qualifications

• Sharp visual acuity and an analytical mindset for troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.
• Experience with precision measuring instruments and interpretation of measurements, tolerances, and GD&T.
• Knowledge of ISO quality standards and ANSI-Y-14.5 GD&T principles, especially for higher-tier roles.
• Strong written and verbal communication with a collaborative approach and integrity.
• A high school diploma, GED, or technical certification.
• Level-based experience: I: 0–2 yrs, II: 2–5 yrs, III: 5+ yrs in QA/QC.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints and apply GD&T to verify tolerances with precision tools.
• Set up and calibrate measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.

• Lead or support internal process audits for continuous improvement.
• Document inspection results, non-conformances, and certification data per procedures.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve issues.

What You'll Do

• Performing thorough Receiving, In-Process, First Article, and Final Inspections on parts and assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and purchase specifications.
• Interpreting blueprints and applying GD&T principles to verify tolerances with precision measuring tools.
• Setting up, calibrating, and utilizing various mechanical and electronic measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and height gages.
• Conducting final quality checks, validation tests, and functional testing before shipment to guarantee defect-free products.
• Leading or supporting internal process audits to identify areas for continuous improvement.
• Documenting inspection results, non-conformance reports, and certification data accurately and in compliance with company procedures.
• Collaborating with cross-department teams including engineering, manufacturing, and quality to swiftly resolve issues and improve processes.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment by applying 5S methodologies.

What You'll Bring

• Experience with precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and optical comparators.
• Knowledge of ISO quality standards and ANSI-Y-14.5 GD&T principles-advanced mastery is expected for higher-tier roles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative approach and professional integrity.
• A high school diploma, GED, or technical certification.
• Level-specific experience:
  • Level I: 0-2 years of manufacturing or assembly experience (training available).
  • Level II: 2-5 years in quality inspection with blueprint reading skills.
  • Level III: 5+ years of high-precision QA/QC experience, especially in aerospace, defense, medical devices, or advanced electronics; ASQ CQI certification a plus.
