Verus-Aerospace in Torrance, CA is seeking a Quality Control Inspector to inspect finished or in-process parts and assemblies to ensure they meet customer quality standards before delivery. This full-time role requires attention to detail and ability to read plans and reports.

The ideal candidate has aerospace metal manufacturing experience, familiarity with AS9100, and proficiency with Verisurf software or similar CAD tools.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years college preferred; education/experience may substitute.
  • High school diploma or GED; three years related experience.
  • 3+ years aerospace metal manufacturing experience.
  • 2+ years quality control inspection experience; CQI a plus.
  • Strong reading and math skills.
  • Good technical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Basic computer skills; MS Office and Excel.
  • Ability to read and apply contract requirements, specs and blueprints.
  • Excellent documentation and record-keeping abilities.
  • Positive attitude with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to interpret varied instructions and variables.
  • Team player in fast-paced production; cross-training duties.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects fabricated/mechanical parts and assemblies to determine acceptance or rejection.
  • Inspects purchased parts and materials upon receipt.
  • Examines plans and drawings to determine product parameters.
  • Reviews documentation for completeness and traceability per AS9100 and internal QA system.
  • Works with CAD models and Verisurf; performs first article inspections and reports.
  • Verifies first article and in-process samples meet drawings.
  • Generates NCRs and supports root-cause/corrective actions.
  • Assists in training junior inspectors.
  • Shows sound judgment; promotes quality and adaptability to changes.
  • Ensures inspection activities comply with 6S, safety and housekeeping.
  • Exposure to manufacturing env: moving machinery, fluids, metal shavings, noise.
  • Maintains safety and reports hazards immediately.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Quality Control Inspector

Full Time Indirect Torrance, CA, US

Salary Range: $25.00 To $32.00 Hourly

Position Summary

The Quality Inspector role is responsible for performing inspection to all products and ensure they meet the quality standards per customer requirement before they are delivered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspects finished or in-process fabricated or mechanical parts, equipment and assemblies of a complex nature and determines acceptance or rejection
  • Performs inspection of purchased parts, materials, components, and equipment as materials are received from operators, vendors, or subcontractors.
  • Examine plans, engineering documents, part lists, drawings, etc. to determine product parameters.
  • Review documentation for completeness, accuracy, and traceability in accordance with AS9100 and internal quality system requirements
  • Understand Solid model CAD and Experience with Verisurf software. Perform first article inspections and generate detailed reports
  • Verify first article inspection and/or in-process inspection samples to the full requirements of drawings.
  • Generate and process nonconformance reports (NCRs) and assist in root cause and corrective action activities
  • Assist in the training of less experienced inspectors.
  • Displays willingness to make decisions; Exhibits sound and accurate judgment; Supports and explains reasoning for decisions; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Adapts to changes in the work environment; Changes approach or method to best fit the situation; Able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Ensure all inspection activities comply with 6S, safety, and housekeeping standards to promote a clean and organized work environment
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments including moving machinery, cutting fluids, metal shavings, vibration, and varying noise levels from moderate to loud
  • Always Work safely and report any unsafe conditions or injuries to your supervisor or Manager immediately.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • 2+years college preferred; combination of education and work experience may be equivalent.
  • Preferred Experience: Programs/Operates Faro Arm (Articulating Arm), or similar, using Verisurf Software
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and three years related experience.
  • Must have 3+ yearsaerospace manufacturing metal experience.
  • 2+ years manufacturing quality control inspection experience; CQI designation a plus.
  • Possesses good reading and math skills.
  • Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Basic computer skills; knowledge of MS Office and Excel.
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply contractual requirements, standards, specifications, blueprints, mylars, job travelers, governmental regulations, or technical procedures.
  • Have a positive attitude when working with internal and external customers in the workplace.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several variables in work situations.
  • Ability to work as a team in fast paced production environment andcross-training duties.
  • Excellent documentation and record-keeping abilities.
