Job summary

Banner Engineering in MN is seeking an Inspect/Metrology specialist to program CMM and VMM inspection routines, develop fixtures, and verify First Articles and production parts for quality conformity.

You will interpret blueprints with GD&T, import CAD data, and work with Engineering to update drawings and inspection methods. Associates degree and metrology training are preferred, with 7+ years in a production facility.

Qualifications

• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics with GD&T as needed.
• 3+ years programming experience in VMM and CMM software.
• Ability to write efficient CMM and VMM programs with limited direction.
• Proficient with MS Word/Excel and data export for reporting.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve CAD models, drawings, and specifications for inspection.
• Program CMM/VMM inspection routines and develop fixtures.
• Inspect First Articles and production parts; export results to QC Calc.
• Train Inspectors on VMM/CMM programs and In Spec usage.
• Coordinate with Engineering on drawings and inspection methods.

What You’ll Be Doing

Key Responsibilities

• Retrieve CAD model(s), drawings, and specifications from databases
• Import CAD model information into In Spec for use in developing inspection routines
• Program the Zeiss CMM for touch probe/vision inspection routines, using Calypso software on both online and offline systems
• Inspect parts for First Articles and production parts and export inspection results to QC Calc reporting software
• Program the Micro Vu VMM for inspection routines
• Inspect parts for First Articles and production parts using the VMM, CMM and various hand tools
• Troubleshoot and update existing programs for revision changes and inspection improvements
• Train other Inspectors on VMM and CMM using established programs
• Train other Inspectors to program using In Spec software for the VMM
• Develop fixtures to be used for general inspection or completion of FARs
• Develop special VMM or CMM programs to assist with measurements requested by the production department
• Communicate with Engineering teams regarding drawing updates and inspection methods and results
• Other duties as assigned, including process/procedure documentation updates, inspection equipment maintenance, etc.
• Create Non-Conforming Material Reports for discrepant material

Required

• Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics to determine dimensions and tolerance specifications applying Geometric Dimension & Tolerance (GD&T) as needed
• 3+ years of programming experience in VMM and CMM software.
• Ability to utilize inspection software for exporting inspection data
• Ability to work under pressure for throughput while maintaining quality standards
• Proficient with basic measurement tools such as calipers, pin gauges, micrometers, etc.
• Ability to write efficient CMM and VMM programs with limited time and direction
• General proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work well with other Inspectors, Quality Control personnel, and Engineers

Preferred

• Associates degree in Electronics or Engineering or related
• Certified Quality Inspector designation
• 7+ years of experience in a production facility
• Training in Metrology (or equivalent)

Base Pay Range

$27.12 - $37.30/hr

*The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
