J.M. Fabrication Company, LLC is an ITAR-registered aerospace and defense manufacturer in Arlington, Texas, producing precision machined parts, fabricated components, and assemblies. This QC Inspector position reports to our Quality Manager.
What You Will Do
- - Run approved PC-DMIS inspection programs on the CMM, review the data, and produce inspection reports
- - Before accepting a result, confirm the part ID, drawing revision, program, fixturing, probe qualification, and alignment
- - Perform first article (FAI), in-process, final, and receiving inspection as assigned
- - Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T per ASME Y14.5, to the revision called out by the drawing or customer
- - Apply datum reference frames, feature control frames, basic dimensions, true position, profile, flatness, perpendicularity, parallelism, and runout to real setups and results
- - Work with MMC, LMC, RFS, and bonus tolerance where they apply
- - Verify features manually with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, pin gauges, and a surface plate
- - Investigate unexpected readings and elevate setup, alignment, program, or print-interpretation questions
- - Record results accurately with full traceability to part, job, drawing revision, and gauge
- - Tag and segregate nonconforming material per procedure and alert Quality and Production promptly
- - Help prepare AS9102 first article inspection reports when customers require them
- - Check calibration status, perform routine operator checks and cleaning, and report gauge or machine problems
- - Contribute to root cause analysis, corrective action, and better inspection methods
- - Keep the inspection area organized and follow quality and safety procedures
What You Bring (Required)
- - 2+ years of dimensional or quality inspection experience in manufacturing, including hands‑on CMM operation
- - PC‑DMIS experience loading and running existing programs, checking alignments, and interpreting results
- - Ability to read engineering drawings and apply GD&T to actual parts and setups
- - Skilled with precision hand gauges and manual dimensional inspection
- - Understanding of how fixturing, alignment, cleanliness, and temperature affect measurement accuracy
- - Strong attention to detail and accurate, complete record‑keeping
- - Clear communicator who can explain inspection findings to Quality and Production
- - Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and electronic inspection or manufacturing records
- - Works independently within procedures and knows when to ask for technical guidance
Nice to Have
- - PC‑DMIS programming: creating, editing, troubleshooting, and validating CMM programs
- - Inspection of precision CNC machined parts, fabrications, or assemblies
- - AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality system experience
- - Knowledge of CNC milling, turning, or fabrication processes
- - SPC and MSA familiarity
- - Training or certification in metrology, GD&T, or quality inspection
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- - Inspection area and shop floor with normal manufacturing noise
- - Extended standing or sitting while setting up parts, running equipment, and documenting results
- - Precise positioning of parts and gauges requiring manual dexterity
- - Lift and move parts up to 50 lbs, with assistance or lifting equipment as appropriate
