Job summary

JM Fabrication Company, LLC, an ITAR-registered aerospace and defense manufacturer in Arlington, Texas, is seeking a Quality Control Inspector - CMM / GD&T (Aerospace). This full-time role reports to the Quality Manager and involves running PC-DMIS on the CMM, inspecting parts to ASME Y14.5 GD&T, and generating precise inspection reports.

You will perform FAI, in-process, final, and receiving inspections, ensure traceability of data, and maintain calibration and documentation.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of dimensional or quality inspection experience in manufacturing.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and apply GD&T to parts and setups.
• PC-DMIS experience loading and running programs, checking alignments and interpreting results.
• Skilled with precision hand gauges and manual dimensional inspection.
• Understanding of fixturing, alignment, cleanliness, and temperature effects on measurement accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail and thorough record-keeping.
• Clear communicator who can explain inspection findings to Quality and Production.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel and electronic inspection records.
• Works independently within procedures and knows when to ask for technical guidance.

Responsibilities

• Run approved PC-DMIS inspection programs on the CMM, review data, and produce inspection reports.
• Verify part ID, drawing revision, program, fixturing, probe qualification, and alignment before accepting results.
• Perform FAI, in-process, final, and receiving inspection as assigned.
• Interpret drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5 as called out by drawing or customer.
• Apply datum reference frames and feature control frames to real setups and results.
• Use MMC, LMC, RFS, and bonus tolerance where applicable.
• Verify features with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, and gauges.
• Investigate unexpected readings and escalate questions as needed.
• Record results with full traceability to part, job, drawing revision, and gauge.
• Tag and segregate nonconforming material and alert Quality and Production.
• Assist in AS9102 first article inspection reports when required.
• Check calibration status and perform routine checks and cleaning.
• Contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Keep the inspection area organized and follow quality and safety procedures.
