Job summary

WeldFit in Houston, TX is seeking a QC Inspector to support production goals with a focus on conformance to drawings, procedures, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years in QA/QC, can read blueprints and use precision measuring tools, and will lead other inspectors while maintaining a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This role requires the ability to lift up to 45 pounds and a commitment to GMP and NDE knowledge in welding fabrication environments.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years in quality assurance/quality control.
  • Ability to read drawings and perform precision inspections.
  • Knowledge of NDE MT/PT; welding fabrication experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate assemblies and finished products against drawings and specs.
  • Maintain GMP and documentation in manufacturing; coordinate non-conformances.
  • Provide leadership to inspectors in daily scheduling and performance.
  • Inspect in-process, receiving and final QA to ensure compliance.
  • Travel to local suppliers for in-process and final audits when needed.
  • Assist QC Manager with third-party inspector visits.
  • Identify problems and propose cost-effective improvements.
  • Issue and close Non-Conformance Reports.

We are looking for a QC Inspector to support our production goals through consistent quality work!

Responsibilities
  • The QC Inspector will evaluate assemblies and finished products to ensure conformance to drawing requirements, specifications and approved procedures.
  • Maintain good manufacturing practices and good documentation practices in manufacturing and coordinate the non-conforming process.
  • Provide direction and leadership to one or more inspectors in daily scheduling and performance of work.
  • Maintain a positive attitude while working in a fast-paced and demanding manufacturing environment and dealing with shifting priorities.
  • Inspect in-process, receiving and final quality inspections to assure compliance to specifications and engineered drawings.
  • Travel to local suppliers to perform in process and/or final inspection audits when needed.
  • Support QC Manager to facilitate Third Party Inspector visits.
  • Identify problems, propose resolutions that are timely, cost-effective, and meet quality requirements; take on new challenges and expanding roles to assist with growing demands within different areas of the Quality Department; work closely with Management to provide and implement new ways for improvement.
  • Issue and complete Non-Conformance Reports.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience in a quality assurance/quality control environment.
  • Physical Requirements: Mobility in plant; ability to lift at least 45 pounds; visual/hearing abilities with or without correction; good communication skills.
  • Required Skills: Basic computer skills; customer service skills; fabrication skills; bilingual is a plus; basic math skills (shop math, trigonometry); ability to read and work from blueprints and operator instructions; ability to read precision measuring instruments (height gauges, calibration of hand tools); knowledge on Non-Destructive Examination MT and PT (with minimum certificate of attendance to formal training for 40 hours of classroom/online training); welding and piping fabrication experience.
