This includes inspecting materials, welding, coatings, and finished assemblies to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
Dimensional Inspection
  • Perform 100% dimensional inspections on steel components within your assigned bay, ensuring adherence to blueprint specifications, tolerances, and quality standards.
  • Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures, height gauges, etc.) to verify that all parts are fabricated to required specifications.
  • Record all measurements, discrepancies, and non-conformities, and collaborate with other inspectors to ensure the accuracy of the inspection results across the bay.
  • Communicate findings to the production team and assist in identifying corrective actions if dimensional issues are detected.
Weld Inspection:
  • Conduct 100% visual inspection of welds within your bay to ensure compliance with welding specifications, quality standards, and industry codes.
  • Inspect welds for defects such as porosity, cracks, undercuts, and incomplete fusion.
  • Ensure that all welds meet the required structural integrity and pass inspection criteria before advancing to further production steps.
  • Work alongside and assist other QC inspectors to ensure consistent and accurate inspections across multiple production bays.
  • Assist in organizing, coordinating, and supporting inspections within your bay and help identify any areas of concern or discrepancies in the fabrication process.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to discuss inspection results, challenges, and continuous improvement strategies.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of all inspections, including measurements, test results, and any corrective actions taken.

  • Assist in the preparation of final inspection reports and documentation for each fabricated piece.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and weld symbols.
  • Hands-on experience using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.) for dimensional inspections.
  • In-depth understanding of welding processes and welding inspection techniques, with the ability to visually inspect welds for common defects.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy and quality across all inspections.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with other QC inspectors, production teams, and management.
  • Certification in welding inspection (e.g., CWI – Certified Welding Inspector, or equivalent).
  • Forklift or overhead crane certification.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move steel parts or tools as needed for inspections.
  • Comfortable working in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and welding fumes.
