Job summary

Teledyne FLIR Defense in Elkridge, MD, is seeking an Incoming Quality Inspector to inspect precision machined components, fabricated metal parts, electronic assemblies and electro‑mechanical hardware used in our products. You will support production quality by performing incoming inspections, reviewing documentation, and working with cross‑functional teams in an ISO 9001‑certified environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, mechanical prints, and specifications.
  • Experience using inspection and measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming machined and fabricated components per drawings and standards.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections with precision tools.
  • Verify Certificates of Conformance and First Article Inspection (FAI) packages when required.
  • Review and process nonconforming material with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, and Quality teams.
  • Enter inspection results and quality data into company systems and generate reports as needed.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, mechanical prints, and specifications.
  • Help ensure compliance with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and supplier stores to resolve quality issues.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.

Job Summary:

Teledyne FLIR in Elkridge, MD designs and manufactures advanced robotic, surveillance, and security technologies. We are seeking an Incoming Quality Inspector to inspect precision machined components, fabricated metal parts, electronic assemblies, and electro‑mechanical hardware used in our products. This role supports production quality by performing incoming inspections, reviewing documentation, identifying nonconforming material, and working with cross‑functional teams in an ISO 9001‑certified manufacturing environment.


Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Inspectincomingmachined,fabricated,electronic,andelectro‑mechanicalcomponentsinaccordancewithinspectionrequirements,engineeringdrawings,specifications,andqualitystandards.

  • Performvisualanddimensionalinspectionsusingprecisionmeasuringtoolsincludingcalipers,micrometers,depthgauges,threadgauges,andotherinspectionequipment.

  • Verifysupplierdocumentation,CertificatesofConformance,andFirstArticleInspection(FAI)packageswhenrequired.

  • Reviewandprocessnonconformingmaterial,documentfindings,andsupportdispositionactivitieswithProduction,Engineering,Purchasing,andQualityteams.

  • Enterinspectionresultsandqualitydataintocompanysystemsandgeneratereportsasneeded.

  • Readandinterpretengineeringdrawings,mechanicalprints,specifications,andinspectionrequirements.

  • HelpensurecompliancewithcompanyqualityproceduresandISO9001requirements.

  • Communicateeffectivelywithinternalteamsandsupplierstoresolvequalityissues.

  • Maintainaccurateinspectionrecordsanddocumentation.


Required Job Qualifications:


  • Highschooldiplomaorequivalent.

  • 2+yearsofqualityinspectionexperienceinamanufacturingenvironment.

  • Experienceperformingdimensionalinspectionsofmachined,fabricated,electronic,orelectro‑mechanicalcomponents.

  • Abilitytoreadandinterpretengineeringdrawings,mechanicalprints,andspecifications.

  • Strongattentiontodetailandorganizationalskills.

  • ProficiencywithMicrosoftOfficeapplications.

  • Strongverbalandwrittencommunicationskills.

  • Abilitytoliftupto50poundsandstandforextendedperiodsasneeded.

  • ExperiencewithGD&T(GeometricDimensioning&Tolerancing).

  • FamiliaritywithFirstArticleInspection(FAI)documentation.

  • KnowledgeofCNCmachinedparts,metalfabricationprocesses,andmechanicalfasteners.

  • Familiaritywithweldingprocessesandweldinspectiontechniques.

  • Experienceperformingincoming,receiving,in-process,orfinalinspectionsinamanufacturingenvironment.

  • Experienceworkinginaerospace,defense,electronicsmanufacturing,industrialequipment,orelectro‑mechanicalmanufacturingenvironments.

  • ExperienceworkinginanISO9001,AS9100,orsimilarquality-managedmanufacturingenvironment.

  • ExperienceusingSAP,SharePoint,orsimilarbusinesssystems.

  • ExperiencewithopticalmeasurementsystemssuchasKeyenceequipment.

Salary Range:

$48,400.00-$64,500.000
