Job summary

IDEX Corporation seeks a Quality Inspector with 5–7 years in manufacturing or quality. You will measure incoming materials with CMMs, record data, and drive corrective actions with suppliers.

This on-site position in Crawfordsville, Indiana, offers growth opportunities within the Banjo business unit and exposure to 5S and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• 5 to 7 years related experience in manufacturing and/or quality.
• Experience CMM programmer and operator.
• Experience with ERP System.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Mechanically inclined for understanding products.
• Ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams.
• Effective verbal & written communication skills at all levels.
• Self-starter and results-oriented approach.
• Able to make analytical decisions based on data collection and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Measure identified incoming materials and components to specifications using CMM and mechanical gages.
• Accurately record all measurement data for capability tracking.
• Report material and component issues and initiate supplier corrective actions.
• Coordinate with Quality Engineer to arrange return of defective components.
• Track issues via 8D format for corrective actions.
• Process returned merchandise and conduct analysis as needed.
• Execute root cause / problem solving techniques to solve issues.
• Coordinate trial builds to confirm component application.

Job Purpose:

To ensure all materials and components meet specifications by performing measurements as needed using CMM and mechanical gages. Accurately capture measurement data for capability tracking and future reference. Feedback inspection issues to suppliers requesting corrective actions. Receive merchandise returned from customers and conduct analysis as needed. Work with production to prioritize important inbound items.

Responsibilities:

Primary

• Measure identified incoming materials and components to specifications

• Utilize CMM and mechanical gages to take measurements

• Accurately record all measurement data

• Report material and component issues

• Initiate supplier corrective actions with Quality Engineer

• Arrange the return of defective components to suppliers

• Track issues via 8D format for corrective actions

• Process Returned Merchandise and conduct analysis as needed

• Execute root cause / problem solving techniques to solve issues

• Coordinate trial builds to confirm component application

• Prioritize the incoming materials and components to process

• Collaborate with value stream team to improve quality

Secondary

• Support customer quality issue resolution

• Cross train within QC to support quality initiatives

• Responsible for aiding in own self-development by participation in all training made available by the company

• Participate within Rapid Improvement Events as needed

• Other specific tasks as assigned by the department manager.

Required Qualifications:

• 5 to 7 years related experience in manufacturing and/or quality

• Experience CMM programmer and operator

• Experience with ERP System

• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

• Mechanically inclined for understanding products

• Ability to effectively work with cross-functional teams

• Effective verbal & written communication skills at all levels in the organization

• Self-starter and results-oriented approach

• Able to make analytical decisions based on data collection and analysis

• Able to work independently and within a team

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Training in continuous process improvement processes

• Comprehension of SPC methods

Safety Requirements

• Support 5S within the work area to ensure safety goals are exceeded

• Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all department machinery, equipment, and resources

• Inform Management of Safety issues, reports workplace injury or incident

Quality Requirements

• Communicate all Quality issues to the appropriate management and personnel

• Make improvements as needed to ensure high quality products are produced

• Support the reduction of waste, cost, scrap and downtime

• Ensure the proper process documents are in place and followed (IE: PFMEA, Control Plans and Work Instructions)

Productivity Requirements

• Productivity improvement thru quality improvements

• Provide quick response to quality issues
