Job summary

Horizon Goodwill Industries in Cumberland, MD is seeking a part-time Unit Processor to support salvage textile operations. The role runs 25 hours per week (Mon, Thu, Fri) as a 90-day temp assignment, with responsibilities including producing, weighing, and loading bales and safely operating forklifts.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or equivalent; forklift certification is preferred; valid driver's license and reliable transportation; and ability to pass background or drug

  • Ability to pass pre-screenings such as background or drug screenings.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to fifty (75) lbs., with or without assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Produce bales of salvage textiles that are rectangular in shape, 6 in length, and have five pieces of wire on each bale.
  • Check the quality of bales produced.
  • Safely operate the forklift to move the bales of textiles into the storage area as well as assist in loading bales onto trucks.
  • Accurately weigh each bale produced.
  • Correctly and efficiently load salvage trucks.
  • Place Salvage from other regions and locations onto the salvage belt.
  • Must have a proper understanding or able to learn how to operate and maintain the baler machine.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the training to become a certified forklift operator.
  • Able to follow directions from the supervisor on duty and handle a fast-paced environment.

Job Summary:

This is a part-time position that requires availability on Monday, Thursday, and Friday, working 25 hours a week. This is a Temp position for 90 days, then will be reevaluated.
