Work Type: Onsite,8 am - 5 pm (site has flexibility and different shifts. The preference is an early shift. The earliest start time is 6:30 am/9:30 am)
Job Description:
- The Quality Control department carries out release testing for raw materials, manufactured goods, purchased materials for repackaging, and packaged goods for sale.
- The department is made of an analytical Chemistry lab and aMicrobiology lab.
- In this position, analytical chemistry testing will be performed against a multitude of analytical specifications that would show the material either meets or does not meet requirements, which can include wet chemistry testing and/or instrumental analysis.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:An individual that is detailed oriented, has good communication skills, and is organized. Included in communication skills is the ability to ask questions and report findings/issues to senior analysts, team leads, supervision, or management when necessary. Within this role, being able to read and execute a variety of test methods put in place by the site, compendia, or customers is essential for success.
- Quality Control Associate works closely with the department supervisor and Team Leads to ensure that departmental tasks are completed on time.
- Follow all safety requirements and refer to MSDS for PPE and other safety guidance.
- Practice proper laboratory safety and waste disposal.
- Perform testing per documented procedure.
- Able to recognize out-of-spec (OOS) results and initiate OOS investigation.
- Pays attention to detail and brings issues to the Team Lead(s) or the Supervisor’s attention.
- Has the ability to take on smaller projects/reoccurring tasks with minimal oversight.
- Demonstrate Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Data Integrity Principles.
- Knowledge of the chemistry and instrumentation for the following analysis: FT-IR, pH, Moisture content via Karl Fischer, Specific Rotation, Auto-titrations and other wet chemistry analysis.
Preferred Experience:- Executing laboratory investigations
- Compendial knowledge and testing experience: United States Pharmacopeia, European Pharmacopeia, and/or Japanese Pharmacopeia.
- Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills.
- Solution-focused when faced with any problems or setbacks.
Required Education, Qualifications, Experience:- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Life Science field with a minimum 2 years’ laboratory experience (academic or industry).OR
- Associate degree in Chemistry or other Life Science field with a minimum of 3 years’ experience outside of academic laboratories.
Travel Requirements:Employment Testing Requirements:- Pre/Annual-employment screening/medical monitoring.
- Pass background check, drug/alcohol screen.
- Physically/medically cleared to wear a respirator.
Physical Requirements:- The ability to stand for long periods of time.
- The ability to lift 25 lbs.
Note:
- There is potential for extension/ possible temp to perm.
- Must have a chemistry background - will be working in a chemistry lab
- Self-Motivator, willingness to ask questions, and question is something is wrong.
- Ideal candidate has 2 or 3: FT-IR, UV, Moisture content via Karl Fischer, and other wet chemistry analysis - pH and limit testing on bench.
- Compendial Testing - nice to have
- Lab is full service - 70-75% in lab
- Prefer to focus on local candidates to avoid relocation needs.
- Not budgeted to have to sponsor a candidate at the point of full-time conversion, so ideally no candidates that would require sponsorship
- Ideally, looking for someone with 1–5 years of hands-on QC experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Candidates should have experience using Chempedia or Pharmacopeia in an industry setting.
- The role involves using analytical instruments, with IRPH being a core part of the testing responsibilities.
