Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles is seeking an administrative staff support role to assist Directors, Division Heads, and Managers. This position supports budget planning, quality control, and execution of department programs.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration and strong MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint skills, with the ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines. This on-site role includes comprehensive HACLA benefits.
The posted salary is an estimate of the potential annual pay. Final offer will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
Provides administrative staff support to Directors, Division Heads, and Managers. Assists with the quality control, review, planning and expediting of work in assigned department(s). Supports manager in preparing and analyzing information relative to departmental functions and measurement of departmental effectiveness.
Under general supervision, may assist a director and/or manager in the development and monitoring of a department budget, perform quality control and review of assigned work; new and improved procedures, policy standards and/or programs; may also perform research and analysis on a variety of areas; and will be instrumental in coordinating special projects and special studies; other job-related essential functions as assigned.
Must have knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration, organization, budget and administrative management; statistical and research methods; administrative survey techniques; office automation, software applications such as MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to prepare clear, concise, accurate, complete and logical reports; conduct analytical studies and surveys; work independently with little direction; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; meet schedules and timelines; work confidentially with discretion; interpret, apply and explain policies, procedures, rules, regulations, laws and cases; analyze situations accurately and recommend effective course of action.
Any combination equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in public administration or business administration, and one year of experience in a responsible administrative capacity for a public agency; a Master’s degree in public administration may substitute for one year of experience.
Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License.

Applicants must pass each phase of the examination process with a rate of 80% or higher to be placed on the eligible “Certified Hiring List”. Generation of a Certified Hiring List does not mean that there are any vacant and available positions at this time. The Certified List will be available for not less than 6 consecutive calendar months.

If you are invited to the examination process, you will receive an email from a HR recruiter NO LATER THAN THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2026 . This will be your only notice. There will be no changes to the date(s) of the examination.

Candidates will start at step 1 of an eight step salary range unless there are special exceptions in accordance with the Personnel Rules.
