Job description

As a Quality Control Technician, 3rd Shift, you will perform laboratory tests to determine the chemical and physical characteristics or composition of in-process batches, raw materials, and finished products. This is essential for quality control, process control, and product development.

Location and Reporting

You will be based at PPG's Oak Creek, WI plant, reporting to the Site and Resin Plant Manager. PPG offers excellent benefits, including Medical, Dental, & Vision, a matching 401k + retirement savings, and Paid Vacation and Holiday pay.

Responsibilities

1. Verify formula and component specifications on batch tickets.
2. Set up, adjust, calibrate, and operate laboratory equipment such as paint guns, mixers, viscometers, chemical balances, pH meters, gloss meters, solids analyzers, spectrophotometers, and others.
3. Test samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications.
4. Record test results on batch tickets and in our computer system.
5. Manage quality records and retain production batches.
6. Evaluate production batch retains in response to quality complaints.
7. Perform routine quality checks on finished products to ensure proper filling and packaging.
8. Conduct occasional quality audits of laboratory and production work instructions to ensure compliance with our Quality Policy.

Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
2. At least 1 year of manufacturing or lab experience, or technical education.
3. Basic knowledge of mathematics and scientific principles.
4. Proficient measuring skills and accurate data recording abilities.
5. Ability to work the 3rd shift.
