The candidate will work with engineers, business stakeholders, and compliance teams to ensure audit-ready, accurate financial processes.

Qualifications

• 3 years minimum hands-on software QA, test automation, or SDET.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute automated tests for backend apps, APIs, and financial workflows.

Quality Automation Engineer (Python, SQL & API) is a Contract Opportunity for Fortune 500 Manufacturing Company

Hands-on Quality Assurance, Automation Engineer or SDET who enjoys testing complex backend systems, working with financial data, and building reliable automation solutions in a regulated enterprise environment.

Location: Plano, TX

Pay Rate: $58/hour W2

Work Arrangement: Hybrid – Wednesdays mandatory

Employment Type: 6-Month Contract with Potential Extension

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM CST

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quality Automation Engineer to support the development and testing of enterprise financial applications and backend services. This position requires a hands‑on QA professional with expertise in Python automation, pytest, SQL, REST API testing, and financial data validation. The ideal candidate has experience testing complex transaction‑processing systems, developing automated testing frameworks, and ensuring applications meet security, compliance, and internal control requirements. This role involves close collaboration with software engineers, business stakeholders, and compliance teams to deliver reliable, accurate, and audit‑ready solutions.

Required Qualifications

• 3 years minimum hands-onsoftware quality assurance, test automation, or software development engineering in test (SDET).


• Solid in developing automated tests using Python and Pytest /Py test/ Py-test


• Familiarity with FastAPI and Python-based backend services.


• Advanced SQL, including complex joins, subqueries, aggregations, and backend data validation.


• Experience testing financial applications, banking platforms, payment systems, fintech solutions, or other regulated transaction-processing environments.


• Hands-on experience testing REST APIs and backend integrations.


• Experience with SOX compliance, internal controls, access controls, or audit-related testing.


• Understanding of financial reconciliations, transaction processing, and data accuracy requirements.


• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.


• Knowledge of functional, regression, integration, negative, and end-to-end testing methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute automated test scripts using Python and pytest to validate backend applications, APIs, and financial workflows.


• Develop comprehensive test plans and execute functional, regression, integration, end-to-end, and nonfunctional testing.


• Write complex SQL queries to validate financial calculations, transaction records, account balances, and reconciliation processes.


• Perform REST API testing using Postman, REST Assured, or comparable automation tools.


• Validate financial transaction lifecycles, including transaction processing, approvals, exceptions, and status changes.


• Test internal controls, including segregation of duties, role-based access, approval workflows, and unauthorized transaction scenarios.


• Support SOX compliance testing by maintaining detailed test documentation, traceability, and audit-ready evidence.


• Validate event-driven architectures, asynchronous messaging, message sequencing, error handling, and transaction processing reliability.


• Test integrations between financial platforms, microservices, databases, and third-party systems.


• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and application releases.


• Investigate application defects using SQL queries, API responses, system logs, and test execution results.


• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, accounting teams, and compliance stakeholders to resolve defects and improve testing coverage.


• Maintain test scripts, test data, execution reports, defect records, and supporting documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience testing Java-based microservices or distributed applications.


• Familiarity with Playwright or other modern automation frameworks.


• Experience with PostgreSQL, AWS, or cloud-based financial applications.


• Knowledge of Kafka, asynchronous messaging, or event-driven architectures.


• Experience validating financial valuations, pricing calculations, or accounting-related transactions.


• Experience testing immutable audit logs, approval controls, and transaction traceability.


• Understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

Estimated Min Rate: $40.60

Estimated Max Rate: $58.00
