Job summary

FGF Brands in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to help ensure safe food manufacture. This role spends most time on the plant floor, verifying product specifications and controls, and communicating deficiencies to production management.

You will perform process checks across production, packaging, sanitation, and warehousing, maintain hold logs for non-conforming materials, and support QA Team Lead during audits. Nights and weekends may be required per schedule.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in a QA position, preferably for a food manufacturer.
• Accuracy, detail oriented and critical thinking are essential.
• Good communication skills.
• Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and Quality Systems.
• Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in English.
• Physically able to perform the demands of a 90% production floor job.
• Flexible to workdays, afternoons, nights & weekends if needed.
• Experience with BRC, FDA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform process checks throughout production, packaging, sanitation, maintenance and warehouse functions, including GMP, metal detection, labeling and coding verification, and weigh checks.
• Control non-conforming product, raw materials, packaging materials or equipment by placing on hold and maintaining logs.
• Conduct shelf-life testing daily and report results.
• Collect samples for third-party testing and audits.
• Conduct daily deviation inspections and document findings.
• Verify proper functioning of testing equipment (weighing scales, thermometers, calipers, light meter).
• Assist QA Team Lead during internal and third-party audits.
• Perform daily inspections to ensure GMP compliance and report safety/quality issues.
• Maintain glass and plastic monitoring sites and report deviations; tag out non-conforming equipment.
• Assist QA team leader with trend reports for investigations.
