Job summary

Ferrara is seeking a QA Technician near Itasca. The role focuses on raw material and packaging inspections, in-process checks, and finished goods documentation review.

You will maintain logs, support line operator training, calibrate lab equipment, and ensure compliance with GMPs and safety standards. Overtime and weekend work may be required based on business needs.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years experience in QA/QC in food or pharmaceutical industries.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel/Access).
• Ability to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Execute tests on incoming ingredients and packaging according to QMS.
• Verify finished goods documentation to ensure positive release criteria.
• Assist line operators and training to ensure process checks follow QMS.
• Retain samples and set up daily sensory panel checks.
• Handle non-conforming materials and hold logs, corrective actions.
• Communicate with Supervisors and assist operators with ASI stations.
• Calibrate lab equipment per ICP (PH meter, moisture analyzers, refractometer, scales).
• Audit GMPs and follow safety rules throughout the plant.
• Overtime and/or cover shifts as required.

Work Location: Itasca

Position requires the ability to work overtime. As a result, it may require working varying start times, end times, and weekends dependent on business needs.

The QA Technician’s primary responsibilities will include raw material and packaging inspections, monitoring of in-process inspections and finished goods documentation review. Responsibilities will also include maintaining logs and data records associated with job function (e.g. non-conforming materials, corrective action log, hold logs, net content files, etc.)

Ways you will make a difference

• Execute required tests on incoming ingredients and packaging according to Quality Monitor Scheme (QMS)


• Perform verification on finished goods documentation to ensure that each finish good lot meets positive release criteria


• Support training for line operators to ensure process checks are accurate and timely as stated in QMS


• Retain finished good samples and set up sensory panel daily


• Hold “Out of Specification” material


• Communicate with Supervisors


• Utilize ASI to obtain net content information to release finished goods as well as assist operators with the use of ASI Stations


• Calibrate lab equipment including PH meter, moisture analyzers, refractometer, scales, etc. according to Internal Control Plan (ICP)


• Audit GMPs, throughout the plant and follow safety rules and procedures


• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor


• Overtime and/or cover shifts as required

Experiences that will support your success

• Required knowledge of food processing and food safety; food or pharmaceutical industry experience; 1 – 3 years minimum in food or pharmaceutical industries in QA/QC


• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite


• Ability to speak, write and read English

Compensation

$27.00 per hour plus a .58 cent per hour shift differential.
