QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN (3RD SHIFT) - HOOPESTON, IL

• Pay = $17.96/hr
• Hours = 1 AM to 11:30 AM

SUMMARY:

Performs standardized tests to ensure product compliance with company, customer, and government specifications and requirements, supporting the QA department in meeting all quality and Food Safety & Food Quality programs and procedures.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Monitor production lines to ensure specifications and critical control points are met; take corrective actions if deviations occur.
• Check all can codes before, during, and after production changes.
• Verify scales, salt meters, refractometers, thermometers, and Bostwick at startup and record data.
• Set up cans for Peco checks daily.
• Manage production schedules, shop orders, batch sheets, and inventory for next-day production.
• Perform hourly inspections of can codes and seams, and check freezer/cooler charts weekly.
• Conduct daily GMP checks and review incoming raw materials.
• Review lab paperwork, organize production documentation, and review packaging activities.
• Complete sample requests and prepare customer samples, verifying labels and printing details.
• Learn and troubleshoot lab equipment such as moisture meters, salt testers, pH meters, tenderometers, pressure gauges, Bostwick, and ATP monitors.
• Perform sanitation, food safety, and quality inspections before each production day.
• Assist in production during quality issues and perform attribute grading of products.
• Collect, store, and verify samples; monitor metal detectors; assist with distribution QA checks and heat penetration tests.
• Support R&D with sampling and testing, input data into systems, and maintain records.
• Ensure compliance with safety, GMPs, and SQF policies; review labels and ship samples.
• Document loss/destruction, perform gluten testing, and complete soak sheets when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by QA Management.
