Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent; related experience is acceptable.
  • Experience with quality labs and foundry processes is preferred.
  • Ability to perform SPC and analyze data for process improvements.

Responsibilities

SUMMARY

Responsible for identifying and reducing scrap in the foundry, operating test and measuring equipment in the quality lab, providing quality guidance to the foundry supervisors and other duties as assigned. It is essential the following duties and responsibilities have a People First approach as “This Company Runs on People”.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Foundry:
  • Operate the OES spectrometer and provide input to the foundry on necessary additions to the furnace.
  • Operate sand analysis and other measuring equipment in the quality lab to aid in maintaining process control and good quality products.
  • Perform fracture analysis on defective castings to determine the root cause of the defect.
  • Assist foundry supervisors to identify types of casting defects and determine if acceptable.
  • Perform measurements to assist operators in the manufacturing of high-quality parts.
  • Provide quality instructions and guidance to the foundry supervisors when process and manufacturing issues arise.
  • Coordinate non-conforming material and assist with rework when needed.
  • Evaluate grind requirements and identify ways to improve or reduce grind times.
  • Evaluate foundry processes (core making, molding, pouring, etc.) to identify areas that need better training and assist with that training when needed.
  • Train people in various capacities on how to use the statistical process control (SPC) software to aid and ensure the manufacturing of quality parts.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce scrap.
  • Track process improvements through the foundry and machine shop.
Other:
  • Prioritizes a people-first approach while maintaining efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Balances technical expertise with a service-oriented attitude.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
