QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN

Orleans Meat Plant - Orleans, Indiana

Full Time, Non-Exempt

6:30am - 3:00pm (times may vary based on plant's needs)

The Quality Assurance Technician will work safely to ensure the quality of our product meets the standards set by White Castle and the requirements set by

USDA.

What We Are Looking For

• A minimum of 2 years of college chemistry and/or biology is required or three years of previous quality assurance experience in the food industry or one year in the Quality Assurance Technician II position in a White Castle Meat Processing Plant;
• Have knowledge of proper procedures for handling chemicals and laboratory safety procedures;
• Have adequate knowledge of safe lifting procedures, “lockout/tagout” procedures, and proper safety procedures;
• Communication skills and the ability to work well with others and the U.S.D.A. Inspectors;
• Familiar with USDA regulations and directives and the HACCP, SSOP, GMP and SOP programs.
  
  

What You Will Do

• Inspect and analyze meat raw materials and finished products for fat, total plate count and coliform bacteria, both chemical and bacteriological;
• Daily and weekly reporting of this information must be maintained and distributed properly;
• Preoperational and operational plant inspections, shipping and receiving inspections as required by Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Program;
• Daily on-line inspections including the packing accuracy check and product quality;
• Special attention and strict adherence must always be given to the Quality Assurance Guidelines to ensure the wholesomeness of our product;
• Check the condition of incoming raw material and packaging supply trucks as well as check out going finished product shipments;
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization within the Quality Assurance laboratories and keep supplies readily available for production workers.
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to physically lift 25 pounds; bending, turning, twisting, and climbing will be required;
• Must be able to work well with co-workers in a physically close environment;
• Must wear all other safety gear, i.e., eye & ear protection, as deemed necessary.
