Position Summary

The Pharmacy Technician I, Data Entry (DE) ensures accurate and efficient prescription processing, supporting patient satisfaction and Empower’s mission to expand access to quality, affordable medication.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Processes new orders promptly and accurately to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Utilizes multiple software programs to review patient profiles, type prescriptions, and update patient records with attention to detail.
  • Verifies the accuracy of patient and prescription information, transferring clarifications to the appropriate team when needed.
  • Adheres to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality and security.
  • Meets production standards and Key Performance Indicators for DE processing times.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Exhibits excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills in English, and the ability to perform accurate mathematical computations, including rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in typing at a minimum speed of 50 words per minute, a thorough understanding of compounded medication orders, and competence in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Pharmacy Tech DE role or equivalent preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Texas Board of Pharmacy- Pharmacy Technician license. Must be an active license and not on probation.
