Job summary

PI (Physik Instrumente), LP in Shrewsbury, MA is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to join our advanced manufacturing assembly team. The role focuses on inspecting incoming, in-process, and finished goods with precision measurement tools to ensure compliance with documented specifications.

You will maintain inspection records, calibration data, and support 5S/lean practices in an ISO 9001 environment, contributing to data-driven quality improvements.

Qualifications

  • HSD/GED required; an associate degree is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in QA or a related field.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and interpret details.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers).
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and lean methods is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming, in-process, and finished products to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and quality.
  • Maintain inspection records and calibration data.
  • Prepare quality reports and document non-conformances.
  • Ensure test equipment is calibrated and functioning.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality procedures.
  • Support production without hindering workflow.
  • Document and respond to quality issues in the QMS.
  • Maintain inventory of non-conforming material.
  • Apply 5S and lean practices in an ISO 9001 environment.

Role Overview

We have an immediate opening for a Quality Assurance Technician to work in our advanced manufacturing assembly department based in our Shrewsbury, MA office. This is a full-time temp to perm position, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. Successful performance and attendance during the initial 90 days will transition into a permanent position. This position will be responsible for ensuring products meet the company's quality and compliance standards through precise measurement, inspection, and data-driven improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect incoming, in-process, and finished products to ensure they meet documented specifications.
  • Use precision measuring tools to verify product dimensions and quality.
  • Maintain inspection records, test data, and calibration databases.
  • Prepare quality reports and communicate non-conformances through established processes.
  • Ensure test equipment is properly calibrated and functioning.
  • Identify opportunities for improving quality control procedures.
  • Support production activities while ensuring quality checks do not hinder workflow.
  • Respond to production quality issues in real time, ensuring they are properly documented in the company’s quality management system and appropriate actions are taken.
  • Maintain inventory of non-conforming material.
  • Follow 5S and lean manufacturing principles and practices in an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment
Skills and Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED is required, Associate's Degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read technical drawings and interpret detailed technical information.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and other inspection instruments.
  • Training or experience with ISO 9001, Six Sigma, 5S, 8D, kaizen or other problem-solving methodologies preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Suite.
  • Due to ITAR regulations, applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders), or protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
  • Must pass a background check.

The pay range for this role is $27-$35 per hour. Compensation is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.
