Physik Instrumente GmbH in Shrewsbury, MA is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to join our advanced manufacturing assembly team. This full-time, temp-to-perm role operates Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm, supporting product quality through precise measurement, inspection, and data-driven improvements.

You will read technical drawings, utilize micrometers and calipers, maintain inspection records, and help calibrate test equipment in an ISO 9001 environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; Associate's Degree preferred.
• 2+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read technical drawings and interpret detailed technical information.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
• ISO 9001, Six Sigma, 5S, 8D, kaizen or other problem-solving methods preferred.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Suite.

Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming, in-process, and finished products to ensure they meet specifications.
• Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and quality.
• Maintain inspection records, test data, and calibration databases.
• Prepare quality reports and communicate non-conformances.
• Ensure test equipment is properly calibrated and functioning.
• Identify opportunities to improve quality control procedures.
• Support production activities while maintaining timely quality checks.
• Document quality issues in the quality management system and initiate corrective actions.
• Maintain inventory of non-conforming material.
• Follow 5S and lean practices in an ISO 9001 environment.

Role Overview

We have an immediate opening for a Quality Assurance Technician to work in our advanced manufacturing assembly department based in our Shrewsbury, MA office. This is a full‑time temp to perm position, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. Successful performance and attendance during the initial 90 days will transition into a permanent position. This position will be responsible for ensuring products meet the company's quality and compliance standards through precise measurement, inspection, and data‑driven improvement.

Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming, in-process, and finished products to ensure they meet documented specifications.
• Use precision measuring tools to verify product dimensions and quality.
• Maintain inspection records, test data, and calibration databases.
• Prepare quality reports and communicate non‑conformances through established processes.
• Ensure test equipment is properly calibrated and functioning.
• Identify opportunities for improving quality control procedures.
• Support production activities while ensuring quality checks do not hinder workflow.
• Respond to production quality issues in real time, ensuring they are properly documented in the company’s quality management system and appropriate actions are taken.
• Maintain inventory of non‑conforming material.
• Follow 5S and lean manufacturing principles and practices in an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment.

Skills and Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required, Associate's Degree in a relevant field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read technical drawings and interpret detailed technical information.
• Proficiency in using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and other inspection instruments.
• Training or experience with ISO 9001, Six Sigma, 5S, 8D, kaizen or other problem‑solving methodologies preferred.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Suite.

• Must pass a background check.

The pay range for this role is $27-$35 per hour. Compensation is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.
