Job summary

Atlas Copco North America LLC seeks a Quality Assurance Technician to perform metallurgical and materials testing in the met lab supporting rivet manufacturing. You will report to the Quality Assurance Supervisor and inspect raw materials and manufacturing processes on-site in New Hudson, MI.

You will run wire tensile tests, Rockwell/micro-hardness tests, metallographic prep, and microstructure interpretation, while maintaining lab cleanliness and safety and using Syspro for inspections.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with metallurgical inspection equipment is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail is essential.
• Good communication and organizational skills are required.
• Ability to stop production as needed in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Inspect raw materials and rivet manufacturing processes.
• Perform metallurgical testing: wire tensile strength, hardness, metallography.
• Maintain met lab cleanliness and safety.
• Update Syspro for receiving and in-process inspections.
• Assist in root cause analysis of quality issues.

Job description

As a Quality Assurance Technician, your mission is to be responsible for metallurgical and materials testing in the met lab in support of rivet manufacturing. You will report to the Quality Assurnace Supervisor.

You will:

• Responsible for the efficient inspection of raw material and Atlas Copco Henrob's rivet manufacturing processes
• Performs laboratory testing and inspection including, but not limited to:
  • Wire tensile strength
  • Rockwell and micro-hardness hardness testing of heat-treated parts
  • Metallographic sample preparation
  • Microstructure interpretation
  • Plating thickness inspection
• Uses Syspro to update receiving and in-process inspections as required
• Assist in the investigation of quality issues, field failures and root cause analysis as required in support of production
• Maintains cleanliness of the met lab in accordance with standard practices
• Work safely and in accordance with all safety policies
• Shuts down rivet production as required
• Other related duties as directed by the Quality Assurance Supervisor or Quality Engineer

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (AS APPLICABLE):

• Some periodic heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) will be necessary.
