Summary
The Quality Assurance role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of all batch ingredients, variable data labels, barcodes, and QR codes throughout the cannabis packaging process. This position involves maintaining thorough documentation at each process touchpoint. The Quality Assurance role collaborates with the Packaging Manager and other departments to identify and implement process improvements, investigate quality issues, and ensure that all packaging operations meet the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance. The QA technician acts with the best interest of the client and provides oversite during key custody changes to ensure proper processing.
This role does not create labels. This role does not correct the problem. If there is an issue discovered in a batch, the Quality Assurance Technician will stop the batch, document the issue, and clearly communicate to the Packaging Manager the issue for quick resolve.
Key Responsibilities
- Validate batch label details and batch ingredients at each process touchpoint.
- Ensure the accuracy and compliance of all variable data labels during the shift, verifying that all required information is correctly displayed
- Ensure the quality of print for every label printed during the shift
- Conducts checks on all barcodes and QR codes to ensure they scan correctly and contain accurate information.
- Document every validation checkpoint. This documentation follows the batch through the processes and is stored compliantly when the batch ingredients are consumed.
- Verify that production batches are using the correct ingredients as per batch records.
- Maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for label verification, barcode and QR code checks, and ingredient verification processes in collaboration with the Packaging Manager and Director of Production
- Identify and implement improvements to streamline verification processes and enhance product quality.
- Investigates quality issues related to labels, barcodes, QR codes, and ingredient usage, and implements corrective actions.
- Collaborate with production and other departments to prevent recurrence of quality issues.
- Conduct internal audits of labeling, barcode, QR code, and ingredient verification processes to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Perform moisture testing on milled product signaling when material is ready for production.

Education & Experience
- HS Diploma or 2+ years of related experience in business, manufacturing, or equivalent experience.
- Basic understanding of Bud's service model
- Knowledge of state and federal cannabis regulations and how they relate to batch labels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software.
- Cannabis product knowledge strongly preferred
- Demonstrate eye for detail when engaged in packaging operations
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
- Able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
- Able to lift to 50 pounds.
- Able to work a fully flexible schedule including nights and weekends if necessary.
- Extensive use of hands, including repetitive movements.

- Must pass all required background checks.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- You must be at a minimum 21 years of age.
- Must be approved by the Cannabis Control Commission to work in the cannabis industry.
